As the world continues to regain normalcy from the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Salvation Army of Greensboro has developed new Re-Opening Guidelines for all areas of the Command. Below are new guidelines we have taken for the month of June:

Across the Greensboro Command:
• All CDC social distancing guidelines implemented across the Command
• Daily and Nightly disinfecting of all facilities across Greensboro
• Plexiglas barriers added to all contact locations across Greensboro
• Needed PPE has been distributed throughout the Command for all areas
• Additional Hand sanitizing stations set up throughout the Command
• Door handles, light switches, and tabletops will be wiped down throughout the day across all areas of the Command
• Temperature checks-points will be mandated across specific areas of the Command during Phase 2 of the North Carolina ReOpening Plan in order to protect the most vulnerable.

Additional actions taken in specific areas:

--- The Salvation Army of Greensboro Corps Ministry
• Social distancing (6’ guideline) is to be maintained at all times with no physical contact.
• Indoor meeting limited to 50% capacity of max occupancy of the room being used.
• Chairs will be arranged inline with social distancing standards.
• Church attendees are encouraged to take their own temperature prior to coming to facility.
• If church member or visitor has had symptoms of COVID 19, they will be asked to be symptom free for 14 days and/or cleared by a doctor before returning.
• It is strongly recommended to wear masks.
• Continue to have small groups meet virtually whenever possible.
• Vulnerable adults are still encouraged to shelter at home but are welcomed to attend.
• Nursery facilities will not be started until Phase 3 of the ReOpening North Carolina Plan.
• Scripture, program items, and songs will be on the screen to limit the sharing of paper and books.
• Offering will be taken on the way out of the chapel rather than passing the plate.
• No Transportation pickups during Phase 2 of the North Carolina ReOpening Plan

--- The Salvation Army Family Stores of Greensboro
• New Store Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Each store has been clearly marked (using RED tape) to ensure proper customer flow and distance. Proper signage has been posted notifying customers of these guidelines.
• The Credit Card terminal is protected by customers being able to use Q-tips to press down on the key pad and then disposed of after each use.
• All public restrooms and changing rooms are closed until further notice.
• Maximum occupancy has been posted at the front door and an associate is greeting customers and keeping accurate count. If maximum occupancy is reached customer flow will be halted and social distancing guidelines will be followed on the exterior of each store. This is accomplished by (RED tape) being placed 6ft apart on our sidewalks.
• In person donations have been suspended at this time and will resume tentatively at the end of May. All donation dropped off will be allowed to sit for one day before processing and sprayed with disinfectant.
• At the close of each business day all stores undergo a deep cleaning of all surfaces. This includes all register areas and any surface frequently contacted by staff or customers.
• With these measures in place we are compliant with state guidelines for retail store capacity and proper markings for social distancing. (Executive Order 131)

--- Boys and Girls Clubs of Greensboro:
• Clubs reopening at 50% capacity to comply with 6 feet social distancing demands
• Transportation will not be offered until phase 3 of Governor Cooper’s reopening structure
• Transportation will potentially be offered in Phase 3 in tandem with group size restriction.

--- The Salvation Army of Greensboro Center of Hope
• All visitors will be required to get their temperature checked, provided gloves and masks before allowing further facility entrance to The Center of Hope. If a visitor demonstrates a raised temperature, they will not be allowed in the facility.
• No residents at this time have contracted COVID-19 nor are any demonstrating symptoms. If a resident displays Covid-19 symptoms or raised temperature, the resident will be quarantined in a separate dorm for 14 days. Our on-site nurse and the Public Health Department will arrange testing of resident provide further instruction.
• The Family Success Center will continue with virtual classes for the foreseeable future.
• The Center of Hope will incorporate new virtual life skills classes over the summer to Center of Hope Shelter Resident’s

In light of the heightened concerns of COVID-19, we wanted to send you a note to ask you to be in prayer and ask
for your continued support. The Salvation Army continues to work in our communities, but first and foremost we are a church. Everything we do is in the name of Jesus Christ. If you are in need of prayer, click here and submit your prayer request today.

With the COVID-19 Pandemic at it’s doorstep, the Greensboro Command continues to serve the city. The food pantry has become an even more essential tool due to the increase demand from so many who have recently lost jobs. This has also created an additional strain on the Food Bank. Thankfully, area supporters have taken steps to provide additional resources. But the need is great, and additional resources are in high demand. A new "Drop and Go Donations" has been created in front of the Administration building to offer others the ability to have a method to give safely.

If you have the ability to donate financially, this would give us the freedom to quickly open prepared processes and procedures to for relief and deployment of resources to those in need. Click her and please consider a donation today. Let's fight this together!

Examples of the type of items that work best in our food pantry -  along with toiletries!
The Salvation Army of Greensboro is uniquely positioned to support families and children in need, especially during these winter months. Our network of trained staff and volunteers are available for all those who wish to do the most good for this new decade and beyond.
