GW4 research to launch reopening of Bristol’s educational charity We The Curious

A collaborative science project developed by the GW4 research community ‘Secrecy, Power, and Ignorance research Network’, will feature in the reopening of Bristol’s educational charity We The Curious.
We The Curious will reopen next month with a bold new experience Project What If. The launch programme for Project What If is themed around ‘A Better World Is Possible’ and includes ‘The A-Z of Secrecy’ – a collaborative open source science activity developed with the Secrecy, Power, and Ignorance research Network (SPIN).
SPIN is a collaborative research community funded and supported by the GW4 Alliance. The network explores what makes secrecy and ignorance interesting, powerful, and sometimes overlooked. Their research focuses on the power and politics of secrecy and ignorance – at the global, international, state, societal and personal level.

GW4 Neurodevelopmental and Neurodiversity Network
A new regional network between the GW4 universities has launched which will focus on research into neurodiversity and conditions such as ADHD and autism. The network aims to bridge the gap between research and practice to improve how overlapping neurodevelopmental conditions are investigated and managed by researchers and clinicians.

GW4 WSA Annual Conference 2020
This year’s GW4 Water Security Alliance conference will be held online from 2-4 November and include informative webinars and interactive workshops.
Attendees will learn about the breadth of research taking place across the GW4 community, share water-related research experiences with academics and stakeholders, and help to inspire and support the next generation of water researchers.

Multidisciplinary Approaches to AMR: Bench to Bedside and Beyond
Organised by GW4 early career researchers and postgraduate researchers, this week-long event aims to address a ‘One Health’ approach to antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
The free online symposium taking place from 30 November to 4 December will include interactive webinars from invited speakers, themed discussion forums, an online poster session and an images of research gallery. Registration deadline: Monday 16 November.

Climate Change: Science and Society
This free online symposium organised by GW4 early career researchers will take place from 3-4 December. The event will address three broad themes: impacts of climate change, mobilizing societal change, and sustainable solutions. It will also facilitate networking between researchers working across different disciplines with an interest in climate change, society, and sustainability. NC3Rs CRACK IT Challenges
The 2020 CRACK IT Challenges competition is now open. Up to £3.5 million funding is available to UK and EU-based applicants to solve five Challenges that focus on delivering 3Rs, business and scientific impacts across diverse areas including wound healing, mouse welfare, animal-free reagents and in vitro immunology.

Good Grief Festival
A free online festival exploring the many faces of grief will take place for the first time this month from 30 October to 1 November. Good Grief is a collaborative event led by the University of Bristol and organised by GW4 Crucible Alumni, Dr Lucy Selman.
Broadcast from a studio in Bristol and reaching thousands of people all over the UK, Good Grief, will include 70 events exploring the universal human experience of grief through panel discussions, conversations, interactive workshops and webinars.

FUTURES2020 taking place 27-28 November promises to be bigger and better than ever before with researchers from the GW4 Universities of Bath, Bristol, and Exeter joining researchers from across the South West region to showcase their work.
The event will demonstrate the varied and cutting-edge research taking place at these universities and there are still lots of ways GW4 researchers can get involved and share their research with the public.
