Hello dear members, 

Hoping everyone enjoyed the weather over Labour Weekend. Not quite as warm as some of us would have liked but we're on the upward swing to summer now officially. 


The pool - oh yes - there were some brave people over the weekend! I managed to get one snap before my phone battery gave up - but if you were here and would like to share any pics please email them to the office address attention Sarah, and I'll put them in next week's newsletter. Go on! Be 'world famous' at the Club!

Raffles this week


We've got a bit of extra fun happening this week so be sure to be a part of it. 
Petanque - as well as the normal raffles that the Petanque Sub Club will be running as usual on Thursday and Friday nights, there will also be some lovely gift baskets on offer - one on Thursday, Friday AND Saturday night! We'll have 50 tickets available each night, at a wee $2.00 per ticket. Make sure you buy a ticket to be in to win!

Saturday night Quick Fire Raffles - our esteemed president Mr Gordon Price will be running some Quick Fire raffles on Saturday - tickets available from 5:00pm - 25 x tickets available per raffle - as soon as each raffle is fully sold it will be drawn - prizes include meat packs and other items. Feeling lucky?? Get yourself here then!

Birthday Drinks
Last week for our October-born members to get their free drink for their birthday.
Next week November babies - it's your time! If you're a new member, you may not know -but during your birthday month we'll shout you a drink to celebrate. You may have your drink at any time during the month, it doesn't have to be on your actual birthday - just let the bar staff know it's your birthday month and the drink's on us!

Motorsports Car Sales Courtesy Van

Our van operates Thursday to Sunday from 3:00pm.
Just give us a call on 3478301 during opening hours, go through to the bar and book your pick up time.
To get home again, we make regular announcements throughout the night when the van is leaving shortly, so you just need to get yourself out into the foyer and hop on.
For new members who don't know about this - this is a free service but we would appreciate it if you could drop a donation in the box on the bar. Thank you!


 

Pool News

We did it! We opened the pool! And some of you actually used it! 
As proof, here's the wonderful Lucy having a splash around on Saturday  - must admit she was a little shell-shocked when she jumped right in (we're not in the tropics now Luce!) but she stayed in for about 15 mins before getting out. 
There were probably another 10 or so in the water too having a great old time - and it's only going to get better from here on in!


Pool Keys - if you've currently got a pool key then you've either just received or are about to receive an invoice for $25 for this current financial year July 2020 - June 2021.
Note: the pool key invoices are separate to your CT Club membership invoices - at the time we sent your subscription invoices out we were upgrading our membership database, and didn't have access to our pool key information temporarily. 

We've also been  working on retrieving pool keys from members who have left the Club - this poses an issue for everyone really, even though we love seeing people enjoy the pool, it's not fair on our members who've paid if people are still using the keys even though they're no longer members. We are contacting people who haven't returned the keys,  but if you happen to know of any yourselves please could you have a quiet word and ask them to return them? Or they could rejoin the Club - that would be lovely too!

On that note, as we are lacking a few keys right now, we're having more cut. They're not your average key - a little bigger and fancier, so they take a little longer. We've been told to expect some of them by Friday, at which point I'll finish processing the applications I have and leave  them behind the bar for you. If you do have an application in with us at the moment please ask at the bar from Friday afternoon onwards, and your key should be there (assuming we have the quantity we need).

Halloween Kids' Party 

It's almost Halloween! So far we have 50 little creepy critters registered to attend the party - please put details on the form at the bar or email me at office@ctclubrotorua.co.nz attention Sarah, if you'd like your child(ren) to attend. 

When? Saturday 31st October, 2:00pm to 4:00pm here at the Club in the Rimu Room.
What's happening?  lots of yummy nibbles for the kids, perhaps a movie playing, games, and prizes for the best costumes. 
 

Melbourne Cup 

Got plans for Tuesday 3rd November? Come visit us for the Melbourne Cup!
It will be run slightly differently this year, see the poster below for details.
No entrance fee, all welcome, and we're still doing 'Fashion in the Field' of course. 



Monday 2nd November -  Calcutta (the day before the Melbourne Cup) - tickets available for purchase at the bar NOW.
Tuesday 3rd November - the main event - Melbourne Cup.
Club opens at the usual time of 1:00pm, race scheduled to run around  5:00pm. 
No entrance fee - everyone is welcome. We're not setting up a VIP area this year. 
Special Race Day menu available all day to purchase from our restaurant.
Manned TAB terminal available, as well as our self service terminal.
Fashion in the Fields - well that's still got to happen! Come dressed up in your fancy finery if so wish - we'll have prizes to win for the following categories:
 - Best Dressed Lady
 - Best Dressed Gentleman
 - Best Dressed Couple
 - Best Hat. 
 

Golf News

In November our golfers head off to Tauranga for the CT Club’s Nationals to be played at Omanu on 22nd, 23rd and 24th November. 

 

Quiz News

 Our next quiz will be held on Monday 9th November.  This will be the last one before our Christmas Quiz, so why not come and check us out. Everyone's welcome -let me know if you'd like more info.

What delights will we have this week? Our Chef has yet to confirm, so please take a look at the board in the restaurant when you arrive to see what our specials are.
