Learning Outcomes

Introductory knowledge of the information sharing provisions, how it works in practice and how to respond.

  • Increased capability in NGOs to use the information sharing provisions that promote good information sharing practice that enhances positive outcomes for tamariki and whānau
  • Understanding of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 legislation and awareness of the information sharing guidance for the sector
  • Understanding of responsibilities for and application of good information sharing provisions within their organisation
  • Increased collaboration and introducing the idea of regional communities of practice

By the end of this seminar participants will be able to:

  • Locate the appropriate provisions to share information in the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989, the Privacy Act 2018 and the Family Violence Act 2018
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the legislation and the ambiguity that will be evident in putting it in practice
  • Describe the principles of the Privacy Act and in DPUP and how they relate to working with others when sharing information
  • Identify what information needs to be shared, with whom and in what situations
  • Explain how they respond to different information requests as illustrated during group activities, case scenarios and evaluation exercises
  • Explain who they can request information from and under what circumstances
  • Describe their obligation to consult with tamariki where appropriate and practicable and assess the implications of that in decision-making
  • Identify good information sharing practice and organisational system changes required

Foundations in Infant and Child Mental Health Forum Gisborne, Tuesday 17 November 2020, 9:00am - 4:00pm

Werry Workforce Whāraurau and Tairāwhiti District Health Board are pleased to host the Foundations in Infant and Child Mental Health Forum in Gisborne on Tuesday 17 November 2020.

The content is based on the online Foundations in ICAMH training package which is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of the ICAMH, NGO and Primary workforce. The online learning is free and accessible at https://werryworkforce.org/elearning

This day will include core concepts in infant and child mental health including:
  • attachment
  • emotional and cognitive development
  • common developmental difficulties in childhood
