What Does Discipleship Look Like?

During The Gathering last month, our Director of Development, Jenn, sat out in the Living Room much of the week to welcome guests. One evening, she witnessed this beautiful moment unfold...

Sitting at a table in the Living Room, two female students are studying. One, headphones on doing an online quiz; the other head bent over a textbook reading. All of a sudden, a young man bounds in from the front door, excited to see his friends, and says rather loudly, “Hey!”

Immediately, one of the young women jumps up and says, “Ohhhhhh, I bought this for you today!!” She runs over to her bag, pulls out a thick leatherbound book, and hands it to him.

“What’s this?” he asks excitedly.

She replies, “It is the coolest Bible. It’s called a Life Application Bible, the top half is Scripture, and the bottom half is study notes and explanation…” She leans over, cracks the cover, and teaches him how to use it. He is so excited that he asked his friends to take his picture holding his new Bible!

The three students now, heads bent over the Bible as the young women show him their favorite passages.

Shred Event

Save the date, friends, for a Shred Event on Saturday, Nov. 14, 10am-2pm! This event is hosted by the Thrivent Wichita Community and will be at Risen Savior Lutheran Church. So, get your things ready and join us in a couple of weeks. Any donations received through this event will directly benefit our ministry and our good friends with the Wichita location of Orphan Grain Train!!

Let us know you're coming by registering for this FREE event by using this link.

Thank you to the Wichita area Thrivent Representatives, who made this event possible!

Thank you, Ascension Family!

If you stop by Fairmount in the evenings, you can enjoy the beautiful light on our patio and side lawn. It's the perfect lighting for a date-night, study-night, or catching up with a friend!

Thank you to Ascension Lutheran Church-Wichita & Pastor Aaron Hannemann for helping to make our place more homey and bright! We love it, and so do our students and guests!
Would you pray for us? Here are some of our prayer needs:

College Students: as they prepare to close the semester.

Outreach Efforts: as we connect with students. Please pray that the Lord gives us opportunities to connect with these students and help them to find a Christian home and community in our Campus Ministry.

The Lord's Provision: He has been Faithful in the past, and we know and believe He will continue to be Faithful! We pray that He will continue to provide for us daily!

Young Adult Ministry

The Fairmount Young Adult group hosted a back-yard BBQ on October 20 at Maggie K.'s home! We had a great evening hanging out, eating great food, playing card games, and enjoying each other's company!

Our weekly Campus Ministry group singing worship songs around our new firepit!

Campus Ministry

Our Campus Ministry group has been gathering weekly for Bible Study & Fellowship at Fairmount on Thursday nights! We’re enjoying forming new relationships with new students in our community! Last Friday, we hosted a “Fall Frenzy” party at Fairmount, where we played card games and painted pumpkins! Please keep our student community in your prayers. Since most classes are online, Thursday nights at Fairmount is one of the few opportunities they get for human interaction, especially for those that are living on campus. We are thankful that we can provide a community, especially in a time when the world is so isolated.

Weekly Bible Study: We are currently studying the Gospel of Mark on Thursday evenings at 7pm at Fairmount Ministries. Our semester is winding down, which is hard to believe. In-person classes end Nov. 20. We only have two more weeks of Thursday Night gatherings remaining

Upcoming Fellowship Event: We are looking forward to FRIENDSGIVING on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 4pm. Students, as details unfold, we will let you know!

Want to join us for our next gathering? Check out this link and join our Campus Ministry group email list to stay in the loop.

We need your support!

As of June 2020, U.S. nonprofits have seen a decline in 2020, giving of 6%, due to Covid-19 (Source: AFP.org). Unfortunately, our ministry has seen a more drastic decline in giving of 18%. In addition to our individual supporters being impacted by the loss of jobs or other financial burdens due to the pandemic, many of the organizations, congregations, and grants that we have consistently relied upon through the years have been impacted by the decline in their own giving--thus impacting their own gifts to Fairmount.

We are a small non-profit with a small operating budget, but 18% is a significant decrease. We would like to ask you to consider giving an extra-year-end gift to Fairmount Ministries...big or small, your gift will help us to continue to make an eternal impact in the Wichita State & Fairmount Communities.

Please use this link or the button at the bottom of the email to give electronically. You can also send checks to Fairmount Ministries, 3815 E. 17th St. N., Wichita, KS 67208.

Giving Tuesday

Save the date for Giving Tuesday, December 1.

Gathering Follow Up

Last month we celebrated our annual fall fundraiser. Because of Covid-19, we had to change the format, pull the event back to Fairmount, and extend it over one week. It was a great week connecting with so many of you, and we are so grateful to all who participated. Because of your involvement and generosity, we were blessed with over $5,000 from this event! Thank you!

Helping Our Community

As the weather continues to get colder and people who have lost their jobs struggle to find new ones during a pandemic, we know many in our local community need help. We’re collecting dry-non perishable food items & winter clothing (hats, gloves, socks, coats, blankets)! The drop-off site is located right inside our front entryway. See our website for more details about what is and is not accepted and more information about the organizations that will benefit from your support.

Want to help, but live out of the Wichita area? Click this link to donate to the Food & Clothing Drive through our Community Care Fund.

Thank you for helping us bless our community! As a way to show our appreciation, you will receive 10% off of your order when you show your donation to a Barista!
Thank you for your continued prayers and support as we seek to provide opportunities to foster relationships, encourage community, and promote dialogue about faith and life, for the university and the community in order to bring people closer to Jesus Christ.

We could not continue to do our ministry without the generosity of our faithful donors. Please consider making Fairmount Ministries a part of your planned giving.
