November 2020 Newsletter
UPCOMING EVENTS:

11/5- U-lock or U-Lose – After a positive outing during our last U-Lock exchange, we will be holding another event on 11/5 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, at the Faunce Arch. Even if you have a U-Lock, come register your bike. Registration shows ownership and can aid us in contacting you if there is a problem with your bike or if it needs to be moved.

Light the Way Survey- Throughout the month of November, DPS will be conducting a lighting survey along campus roadways, sidewalks, and other public areas to promote safety, limit distractions, and awareness. Maintaining a well-lit campus helps to make campus a place where everyone can move about with a sense of safety. If you see a safety concern on campus or would like to participate in the survey, contact DPS at Campus_Safety@brown.edu
Election Day Safety
We understand that there's a range of emotions regarding the election and some may have questions relating to safety and support. Here are a few tips:
  • Stay safe at the polls by wearing your masks and plan to wait- make sure you have a small water bottle with you or snacks. If you’re diabetic or asthmatic, keep things like an inhaler or insulin with you. If you need to remove your mask to eat or drink, do your best to keep it brief.
  • On election night, from 5 p.m. until late in the evening and early morning, staff across many areas of the University will be onsite in pop-up tents on campus. If you need support, there will be a significant number of staff available. DPS will also have increased patrols in the area.
  • Should you experience any street harassment or threatening behavior, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
What are you most thankful for today with snoopy and leaves.
We realize it's 2020, but did you know expressing gratitude can improve your mental health and decrease levels of stress and depression?
Important Resources:
  • Knowledge is Power. We want to keep you engaged and informed as it relates to your safety. Are you familiar with the Transaction Safe Place at Brown DPS? Students, faculty, and staff can utilize the front lobby for processing exchanges from online transactions.
Have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving recess!
