At NATO's South Blyth Beach event Allen Banister was 3rd on Green

At WCOC's event at Leaps Beck Mike Hind was 19th on Blue

At the DVO event at Grangewood John Lebeter was 52nd on Blue

At HALO's Urban event at Immingham Tamsin Ker (W18) ran her first Women’s Open course, and won!

Quentin Harding won Men’s Open, Ruth Ker was 2nd on Women’s Vet with Sharon Bowes 5th.  And Linda Kelly was 7th on course E.

All agreed that flat urban races are deceptively exhausting.

Enormous thanks to HALO for enjoyable courses and jumping through all the extra Covid-hoops to put the event on for us.

Autumn Leaves 2020

We are pleased to announce a 5 event series of Autumn Lamp-O's . Entry will be on line only and entries close on the Monday evening prior to the event , entries cost  £3 per event. If you have a season ticket and can't attend please let Quentin know so others can take you place.

Full details of how the events will run are on the website here. We will be starting in large open areas and there will be an option of Pen and control card or using the MapRunF format we used during lockdown. Please make sure you read all the rules in advance of turning up on the day as we can't have a nice grouped mass start as previously.

If you find one of the links doesn't work please advise and I will update for the next newsletter, I am hoping more events  to appear over the next few weeks as more clubs try the new guidelines out. These are the only ones that are on the BOF calendar AND on the clubs website.

Club AGM

Kairos Church Hall welcomes us to hold our AGM on Wednesday 4 November beginning at 7.30pm.However, for those who aren't able to or are uncomfortable attending we will be setting up a zoom meeting for you to join in an details will be circulated later to club members.

We have been upgraded to the main hall at no extra cost so will have plenty of space.   I will go into the hall before Lamp O and arrange chairs widely spaced throughout.   Anyone attending with others from their bubble is encouraged to move chairs close together leaving more space for others.  Please wear a mask upon entering, leaving and when moving about.   You are welcome to remove it once seated in your chosen spot.   We will keep doors and/or windows open throughout.

Lamp O will finish at the hall.   It will start a short walk away so park your bicycle or car at the hall before going to the start.  The hall will be open briefly between about 6.10 and 6.20pm so you can put your bag by a chair if you are on foot.

There will be a toilet available.   Sanitiser will also be on hand.   Please wipe down your chair before leaving.

We are not providing refreshments from the kitchen this year as it felt a tad complicated - so please bring your own and you are welcome to enjoy them at your seat whenever you choose.

I do hope you are as chuffed as me that we can get together, in the flesh, to talk of our love for our sport and our club and help it to go forwards in these, yes, challenging times.

Chairman Tim will provide an overview of how we're getting on, what's going on now and what is planned going onwards.   Fixtures Secretary Liz will go through the imminent events and there will be opportunities for willing, helpful people to volunteer for roles within them.

We will consider the committee posts and would be pleased to welcome one or two more Claros to the committee - either as General Members or with a specific role.

We can discuss how we've managed our events post-Covid thus far and share any thoughts for going forwards.

The Claro League Trophies would normally be presented at the AGM however we are not in a position to do so this year.   However, prizes will be awarded for the Summer LockDown MapRun Series and we think you'll like them.  As Quentin and I never announced the rules of engagement for how to be a winner in this series we've designated winners in various as-yet-undisclosed categories.   You could be amongst them.   Yes, it's worth getting excited now.

Ruth, Claro Secretary
