Denver Water’s Lead Reduction Program

COWIC will be supporting Denver Water’s Lead Reduction Program (LRP) to increase participant awareness of ways to reduce lead exposure via water in Denver, Jefferson, and possibly areas in Tri-County. LRP is a 15-year project to replace lead water service lines in those counties. Families with formula-fed babies impacted by LRP will have the option to receive ready-to-feed (RTF) formula from WIC. Click here to learn what this means for you.

New Compass Counseling Topics and Pamphlets Available
To educate families on water safety and nutrition as part of the LRP, a new counseling topic is added under All Participant Categories, called Lead Reduction Program. In addition, two changes to participant pamphlets:

  • Well Fed Means Less Led replaces Foods that Fight Lead Poisoning
  • Learning about Lead in your Drinking Water.
Both pamphlets are currently available in English and will soon be available in Spanish and Arabic.
