[TODAY] Oct 28, 2020 05:00 PM Eastern Time
Rachel Bernard is a visiting assistant professor at Amherst College. She will be talking about her experiences with and interest in STEM diversity, as well as her research on olivine deformation in the Earth's mantle. Olivine crystallographic preferred orientation (CPO) is the largest source of seismic anisotropy in the mantle, and as such is critical to our understanding of mantle deformation and flow. In her talk, Rachel will discuss her research investigating the effects that various deformation conditions have on olivine CPO development.

SPS Invited Lectures Interest Form
Please fill out this form to indicate your interest in having SPS bring interesting physics individuals from all areas of physics (and life in general) to give talks or lectures to Wellesley physics students! Talks will likely occur over Zoom this year, so sadly we won't be able to offer you free pizza. But with your input, the (equally free) physics alone should be well worth it!

Apply to Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWiP)
APS Conferences for Undergraduate Women in Physics will provide you with information, resources, and motivation to support your pursuit of a physics major and a career in physics. The conference will offer inspirational talks by women in physics, student poster or presentation sessions, workshops, and panel discussions on topics such as summer research, grad school, physics careers, and professional development, as well as opportunities for networking and informal mentoring.
Deadline: 10/30/2020

Black in Physics
#BlackInPhysics is dedicated to celebrating Black physicists, our scientific contributions, and revealing a more complete picture of what a physicist looks like.

SPS Merch Input
Please fill out the form below to give us a better idea of the types of merch people are interested in. Also, submit any design ideas you would like to see on a mug, shirt, magnets etc.

POSTER SUBMISSION
We would like to decorate our physics classrooms and hallways. We are asking for you all to be bold and creative. Create an image that contain a scientist/physicist that you admire or looks like you. These submitted images would then be made into posters.
For those that submit an image, you would be mailed a gift from SPS.
As a physics community we would then vote on the top poster (for fun), the winner will receive a special gift from SPS and a copy of their poster design.
If you don't want to submit an image, feel free to submit the name of a scientist/physicist you would like to see on our physics hallways.

SPS @Wellesley Discord
Since there was a huge interest in having virtual physics study rooms, we want to create a virtual physics community through Discord. Hopefully this will be a good place to meet others, pset and chat!

SPS NEWSLETTER INTEREST FORM
Since things are online this year, it is hard to spread the word out about SPS and have potential physics majors subscribe to our newsletters.
Once they fill it out we can subscribe them to this newsletter, so they won't miss our events this year.
