Dear Valued Customer,
As you will no doubt be aware the NZJ service has suffered a multitude of issues in trying to maintain service frequency and transit times to North Asia. In June of this year we notified everyone of an adjustment to the vessel proforma of this service to accommodate an additional vessel which would stabilize the schedule.
Since this time the NZJ service has been detrimentally impacted by typhoons, Industrial action at the Port of Brisbane and severe port congestion at the Port of Auckland resulting from the tragic fatality of a stevedore in August.
The combined outcome of each of the above issues has delivered a less than acceptable service which the NZJ consortium is attempting to rectify. It is clear that some of the issues impacting our schedule reliability have improved but the remaining major area of concern is the performance of Ports of Auckland.
Currently we are experiencing a delay of between 5-7 days on each weekly call which can not be recovered through speed up alone. We continue to discuss the issue with the Ports of Auckland, who unfortunately can not confirm at this time when the situation will improve.
There is no immediate remedial action we can take to address delays of this length and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this situation is having in your business. We are trying our best to maintain the most stable schedule we can to support your business through these difficult times.
