The EuroMarine early career researcher group OYSTER (Orienting Young Scientists of EuroMarine*) have announced that they are extending the deadline of their survey which aims to gain insight into some personal and professional impacts the COVID-19 pandemic has had on marine Early Career Researchers (ECRs).
The deadline to submit is now November 6th.
For the purpose of this survey, marine ECRs are defined as: PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, research assistants or those within 5 years of completing their PhD. Respondents must be currently residing in Europe and/or working in a European institute or university, or within a non-European institute or university that is a current EuroMarine member organisation (list of members found
here).
With this survey, we aim to capture some of the short- and long-term changes the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about for marine ECRs and to help raise awareness about some of the consequences of these changes. Ultimately, the group hopes that such insights may be used by marine research institutes and universities to help ECRs navigate their careers successfully through this pandemic.
The survey will be open for responses from 07/10/2020 - 06/11/2020 and can be accessed via this link:

We kindly ask that you disseminate this survey to ECRs within your institute/university and to relevant contacts across Europe.
If you have further questions about the survey, or would like to be kept up to date with the results, please send an email to
