New Committees of Council Approved
At Tuesday's meeting, Niagara Falls Council approved the Terms of Reference for two new Committees of Council:
  1. Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee and,
  2. Anti-Racism Committee.
Councillors Wayne Campbell and Lori Lococo were appointed the Council representatives, and will act as a liaison to the Committees.

Gateway Feature Policy and Grant Program Approved
At Tuesday's meeting, Council approved a policy for new decorative gateway features for plans of subdivision and condos in Niagara Falls, and a homeowner grant program. The grant program will provide a matching grant to a homeowner of up to $2,000 for repair of an existing gateway feature on their property.

Seniors Advisory Committee - Community Survey
In efforts to promote awareness and gain understanding, the Seniors Advisory Committee recently developed a community survey to gather input from city residents, 60 years of age and older. Nearly 500 responses were gathered, and the results provided the Committee with a better understanding of the challenges and needs from the senior community in Niagara Falls.

Traffic Control Signals at Morrison Street and Optimist Plaza
Council approved the installation of traffic control signals at the intersection of Morrison Street at the Adam’s Centre and Optimist Plaza. The installation follows the request of Transportation Staff, recommending new traffic control signals to address an increase in vehicular traffic on Morrison Street related to the redevelopment of the former Walmart property, which now is occupied by Canada Tire and the buildout of residential properties in the Optimist subdivision.

Masks Available in Memory of Miranda Bauer
Local resident, Patti Bauer, is currently selling masks to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer research. All funds from mask sales will go directly to Sick Kids in Toronto, in memory of her daughter, Miranda Bauer, a local teen who tragically lost her fight to a rare form of cancer. To purchase a mask, visit her Facebook page.
Proclamation: Official Niagara Falls Christmas Tree in Centennial Square
The request from the Downtown BIA, to have the pine tree in Centennial Square be proclaimed as the Official Niagara Falls Christmas Tree was approved. In addition, the City is proud to partner with Niagara Health Foundation's holiday campaign, Celebration of Lights. A Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held following the Santa Claus parade at the Niagara Falls City Hall on Saturday, November 14th at 5:15 pm.

The week of November 8 -  13, 2020 as been declared as "Boys and Girls Club Week" in Niagara Falls. November 8th, 2020 marks the 60th Anniversary of opening the doors to the first Club center for Niagara children and youth. Learn more at boysandgirlsclubniagara.org
