November 2020
From the President

Hello Steelheaders, good meeting at the October Meeting with Tim Muir. He gave excellent information on the MUCC Club. Tim is the Vice President.
We are going to have elections in January. There are going to be a lot of openings on the Board. I have been President for six years and have been doing the News Letter for eight years. I am burned out, besides being in the hospital three times this year.
We have put our Fish Talk newsletter online, have a state of the art website that you can download Tournament Forms and many other things. A photo gallery is also available. Our website is the best I have ever seen.
Working with Mark Casebeer and Vice President John Bibbings, you can now sign up online thru our Paypal account.
Working with other Board Members, this Club has come a long way. I understand why the old Steelheaders want to keep the Club going, but I do not know why they do not want to do any of the board functions. I have been on the Board since 1995. People saying I have done my part does not wash anymore. On January 19, 2021, our elections are your chance to participate in becoming a board member.
The Chapter is a non-profit club with a tax ID number. We worked a year with some help from other members to get this.
The Election Committee members are Frank Smith 269- 908- 6577 Dave Haulman 269-274-4504. Thanks to all the Board Members, which made my job easier over the last six years.
Two more River Tournaments next month. November 14 - Kalamazoo River Trout Quest and November 28 - St. Joe River Fall Steelhead. Then on December 5 is the Chapter Challenge
The Christmas Party is on December 12 at Kalamazoo Eagles. 1332 Branch St. Kalamazoo 49001. 6.00 per person, bring a dish to pass, table setting, and a wrapped gift for the raffle table. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, we will need people to serve food. Please let one of the board members know or me if you can help.
With the Covid, it is tough to get a speaker, and our membership meeting is November 17, two days after the deer opener. We're not planning on a November Meeting but stay tuned; we may change if we get a speaker.
Tight Lines, Dave

The Kings, Coho, Steelhead, started in mid-October to fill the rivers north, Manistee, Peer Marquette, Muskegon, even a few Skamania up by tippy.
Spawn skein on floats and thunder sticks seem to be working best, but body baits, in general, are a good bet if your fishing from a boat.
Large-billed junior thundersticks in the chartreuse and blue hues seem to be working best.
Closer to home, Allegan dam is loading up with every species, including the occasional Walleye.
All the rivers are really low in water, so be careful; slow and steady will save your lower units.
Local lakes for pan fishing seems to have slowed some; a transition period is underway.
Next week's temps in the '60s should provide some good opportunities to catch some panfish fillets for that winter fish fry.
Erie still producing good catches of Perch, and Walleye, Raisin River, and the Michigan-Ohio mid-lake border producing good catches, wiggle warts, thunder sticks producing the best.
Good luck and be safe.
