Veterans Day Cruise
Wednesday, November 11th, 2020
It is a great tradition of the Rhody Cruisers to support the Veterans Day Parade, and Honor our Veterans.
The Veterans Day Parade Committee has concluded that we are unable to conduct a traditional parade for 2020 because of the COVID issues. In lieu of that, we are combining forces with Rhody Cruisers, Florence Jeeps R Us, and several VSO's (Band of Brothers, DAR, VFW, etc.) to conduct a 'Veterans Honor Cruise' on Veterans Day, Wednesday November 11th.
• Here is the plan... We'll be staging at the Florence Christian Church (2nd & Ivy) at 1:30 p.m. and do one loop thru Old Town then continue up Kingwood to 9th and then drive past Spruce Point, back down 9th to Spruce and past Shorewood and Regency to honor their resident Veterans. We'll have route maps available that day.
As this will be a rolling cruise only, with no pedestrians or floats, we encourage you to decorate your vehicles with American flags, branch service flags, patriotic bunting etc. only; however NO advertising, NO political statements etc. The focus is honoring our Veterans. We also encourage you to carry a Veteran who is a friend/relative.
We have held an annual Florence Veterans Day parade since 2006 and this will be the first year we've missed. I hope you'll be joining me that day to honor those of you and those in our community who have served our country.
Thanks! to Cal Applebee for setting this up for our Veterans
NOTE: Cruisers: Please invite veterans as passengers for your cars.
Search them out and share the activities of the day with them.
