All Saints' Sunday
Dear Saints in Christ,

You Just Never Know Who is Watching

Welcome to our weekly email.

As we acknowledge All Saints day this Sunday we have the opportunity to particularly give thanks for those who have gone before us and who have taught us the faith and been role models to us. We all have faith heroes - some, people we know. Some, people we have never met. As you give thanks for them, let me encourage you to also reflect on how you are a role model and encouragement to your brothers and sisters in Christ. Just as some of those we looked up to knew they were role models for us, and others didn't, so it is for us. Without knowing it, we can be like a support for others' faith, a rock they rely on, without necessarily knowing we are that for them. Normally we hear the phrase 'You just never know who is watching' quoted by way of chastisement for someone who is caught out doing something they shouldn't be doing. I wonder if we might turn that around as an encouragement to us to remember that in the way we go about our daily life and work, we are examples to other people of what Jesus is like. As saints, we represent him and his priorities in the world. You just never know who is watching, and who might think they would like to know Jesus as a result of what we have said or done.

With the changes to the lockdown restrictions in Melbourne, we are very excited to let you know that plans are well underway for outdoor services at the Cathedral. We will be in touch with congregation members with details next week. These will be ticketed, mid-week services for 20 people in our courtyard on the corner of Flinders Lane and Swanston St. Covid-safe arrangements will be in place. Instructions about how to book, transport and attendance will be in the email.

We are looking forward to actually seeing some of you very soon!

Grace and peace,

Heather.
'Virtual' Lunchtime Concert Series returns!

Settle in tomorrow afternoon and enjoy our next concert in the series:
Songs of Solace - Adam Simmons (alto & tenor saxophones, shakuhachi)

Adam will perform a selection of original compositions interspersed with eclectic contributions by Krzysztof Komeda, Merle Haggard and Indonesia’s Sisir Tanah. Adam’s unique approach to the saxophone as both a melodic and textural instrument will reverberate in the beautiful space of St Paul’s Cathedral to create a beautifully lyrical and meditative concert.
