Have you ever used an interrobang?
Hi <<First Name>>,
“What the?”
OK, to be honest, it’s not a real punctuation mark.
Invented in the early 60s by an advertising executive named Martin Speckler, it was proposed as a shorthand way of expressing your feelings, when neither an exclamation or question mark, did the job. (As in “She said what?!”)
It found its way on to some typewriters in the late 60s and early 70s, and was also known as the “exclarotive” and “exclamaquest”.
Why is it no longer used?
Well... in those days, there were rules and regulations.
You couldn’t just make up a new punctuation mark, for the English language.
The same thing could be expressed with two signs that already existed, and was hard to see it in small print, of say 6pt or 8pt font size.
Which is exactly why 'the powers that be' said no.
So it was short lived.
However in our digital world, it seems the interrobang has made a comeback.
Because ?!?!?!?! is for hacks, and saves so much space.

PS: I work from a home office, so yell if you'd like to share a virtual cuppa over Skype or Zoom.
