In July, 14 Philadelphia sanitation workers gathered to discuss the environmental hazards of the job, and their hopes for better protection, compensation and recognition amidst a changing climate. The focus session, convened by Ali Kenner’s Philadelphia Health and Environment Ethnography Lab and Philadelphia Climate Works, produced several ideas for more just working conditions, which are shared in this article by Kenner and alumna Morgan Sarao.
