Reopening, Voting, and Dodgers—oh my!
The emotional rollercoaster that is 2020 continues as we celebrate Los Angeles’
second championship title of the year, while still working tirelessly to
bring our kids safely back to school, preparing for a potential third wave of COVID cases, and encouraging everyone to
get out and vote in this election.
While
current case levels prevent us from reopening schools for now, our priority will always be meeting the needs of our kids, families, and school communities.
I have been advocating for the District to expand existing optional childcare and tutoring programs to support as many families as we can—and I’m proud to
share the District’s latest effort to provide a supervised place to study, access to child care and one-on-one tutoring, and care packages to our students in foster care or experiencing homelessness.
Of course, there is no replacement for the in-person instruction our kids need, and while we continue doing everything we can to keep our kids learning right now, we are busy planning for the day we can safely reopen our campuses for hybrid instruction. I will be joined by Supt. Beutner for my next virtual town hall on November 9th to share more details and answer your questions about our reopening efforts.

I hope you will join us for that conversation, and I hope you will also join the
millions of Americans exercising their civic duty in this election. You can find more information about early voting, polling locations, and learn more about

Your voice matters—make sure it's heard.
Onward,
