In this time and age when Yajna, Yagya, Homas, Poojas are all declining with time; in this holy place with the blessings of Swami, the Navaratri Homa and Durga Pooja has been conducted in such a beautiful and proper way and that gives great joy to all of us. This is our culture. Ours is a vaidik sanskriti and till we chant Vedas and perform the duties towards the Vedas and towards the Devatas there is no doubt India as a country, Bharatvarsha, will continue to prosper and generations of Indians will benefit from these sacrifices.
All the actions have to be performed as Yajna. Everything we do should be done for the sake of the Divine. Not for our selfish sake. Not even for the sake of the society. If we do it for the Divine, everything will be looked after. When God is happy, everyone will be happy and we do it only for God. With this feeling we should continue the Yagnam. It should not end with nine or ten days' festivities. It should be a lifelong process where we continue to worship the Divine in all.
We had a lot of doubts and apprehensions about whether we should conduct the Navaratri Homa and Durga Pooja this year due to the prevailing situation. But My feeling is that it’s a tradition, a parampara. It should not break. Everything else can wait. God should not wait. God’s work should not wait.
On the occasion of the 90th Birthday of Swami, we had performed Athi Rudra Maha Yagnam and we had taken a sankalpa that every five years we will continue to perform Athi Rudra Maha Yagnam in Sathya Sai Grama. I wanted to test if this (Navaratri) Yagnam could be performed properly. It has happened well. And by the Divine Grace, we will also have Athi Rudra Maha Yagnam on the occasion of celebrating the 95th Birthday of Swami in November 2020. I request the priests to make the preparations. It’s an elaborate function and it requires tremendous amount of effort and detail. We will perform Athi Rudra Maha Yagnam with the Maha Poornahuthi on the morning of November 23, 2020. We will do it for the welfare of the world.
It was Swami’s sankalpa. It has to happen. There is no other way. When Swami says something, it has to happen. No other way exists other than the way to do whatever the Divine ordains.
Let the world come out of this state of pandemic, worries and anxieties. Let something good come out of this whole thing. Let all those dear to us be protected by the grace of Rudra and let nobody suffer. - Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai during the Maha Poornahuthi of Navaratri Homa and Durga Pooja (Oct 26, 2020), Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli
