Warden's Parish News 30 October
Dear friends
This week we welcome Rev. Kay Webster to preside over our services – thank you Kay. This Sunday Talia will be baptised and welcomed into the family of God – please be sure to hold her in your prayers as she takes this step on her faith journey.
Please continue to check in with the QR code or by signing the attendance register. Sanitiser and wipes are available for your use at the back of the church.
Advent Reflection Booklet
As we have in previous years, we would like to publish our Advent reflections booklet.
There will be a sign-up list at the back of Church on Sunday for you to choose a reading and write a reflection – please just add your name alongside the reading you would like to do. These reflections need to be with Suselle by 16 November to give her time to assemble the booklet and get it printed ready for distribution on the first Sunday of Advent, 29 November.
Gardening bee, 9:30 a.m. Saturday 14/11
We love spring … and so do weeds! Let’s deal to them with a “tidy up” gardening bee, to look our best for Christmas.
If this date doesn’t suit, please email or text Pam with a date you would be available.

Batteries Disposal
Please bring your old, used batteries to church by this Sunday – these will then be taken to be disposed of safely and environmentally.
Foster Hope
Foster Hope collects new, unwrapped Christmas presents for children in foster care throughout New Zealand. Many children enter into emergency service facilities during the Christmas period and we would love your support. Sadly, the festive season is a peak time for child protection agencies that are faced daily with the reality and severity of Child Abuse, Neglect and Crisis in our local communities.
Their aim is to bring a little bit of sunshine and hope to our most vulnerable children when often hope is lost and grief and depression invade their little lives.
One of the ways in which we could help them with their work is to donate new toys to be distributed at Christmas. Toys can be in any price range. Some suggestions from Foster Hope include:
Girls
- Jewellery for girls aged 7 – 12 (all department stores have trinkets that are not expensive)
- Jewellery or craft making kits
- Jewellery boxes
- For girls 12 – 16 a make-up purse with a something like a bracelet in it e.g. elastic with beads & a charm on it and/or moisturiser, bath gel etc.
- For all ages, beach bag & robe to match or beach bag and jandals
- For girls aged 10-16, girlie craft kits are useful for days that the children cannot go outside due to weather
- Snuggle rug
Boys
- Toy cars and trucks are always a hit with little boys
- Lego kits
- Beach bag and jandals
- Balls – rugby soccer etc. that they can kick around with the other kids
- For boys aged 10-16, headphones (available from shops like The Warehouse and Kmart)
- For boys aged 12-16, toiletry kits (available from department stores like The Warehouse and Kmart)
Please do not wrap the toys as they will need to be sorted and wrapped by the folk at Foster Care.
There will be a box up by the pulpit for you to put your donations in by 29 November– we will then ensure that the goodies get to Foster Hope.

And finally, an Egyptian doxology from the third century:
May none of God’s wonderful works keep silence, night or morning.
Bright stars, high mountains, the depths of the seas, sources of running rivers:
May all these break into song as we sing to the father, Son and Holy Spirit.
May all the angels in the heavens reply:
Amen! Amen! Amen!
Power, praise, honour, eternal glory to God, the only giver of grace.
Amen! Amen! Amen!
God bless,
Flora and Lee
