Outreach Partners,
As you may have heard, we recently received approval of an amendment to our P-EBT plan to issue additional P-EBT benefits for the months of August and September to children who previously received P-EBT, excluding children who have since completed/graduated school. Benefits will be calculated based on the beginning date of instruction at the P-EBT eligible child’s schools, but will not exceed $175 per child and will only be issued for schools offering virtual instruction or a hybrid of virtual/in-person instruction. As required by the USDA, we are drawing down funds before September 30th, 2020.
Because we need to reopen the P-EBT Helpline and will be reissuing new P-EBT cards, we will not be mailing cards until mid-October and will likely need to continue mailing through November. Under the approved amendment families will not need to do anything to receive their new P-EBT card and we will not be serving newly eligible children. We will soon be sharing an update on our approach. Of importance to counties, this will include information regarding state-level Helpline operations and transitioning County 70 access back to the state.
All this said, the federal continuing resolution that is pending the President’s signature includes an extension of P-EBT for the entire 2020-21 school year. It’s too soon to tell how this extension may be implemented. This is all the information we can share at this stage. As mentioned, we will provide updates as soon as possible.
Thanks!
