Dear Kerugma Supporter,
Paul wrote in Colossians 3:16: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.” We trust that the two DVDs which we uploaded weekly during the Covid lockdown in South Africa, contributed towards the indwelling of the word of Christ Jesus in you. We uploaded the DVDs as a free offer, to help fill the void created when no one could attend church services. Many can now attend church services and others have indicated how they benefitted immensely from the online DVDs and yet more expressed how the DVDs filled a void that existed even before the lockdown.
We had planned to make the free viewing of the DVDs available for only the initial three weeks, but then the lockdown was extended having us provide this service for a full 32 weeks. We would love to continue doing it, but unfortunately, for various reasons, that will not be possible. But, we have good news for you!
After the first week that lockdown was announced and realising that people would not be allowed to go to church, we set up the cameras in the lounge of Neil Olwagen, of the Christian Community Ministry in Stanford, South Africa, in order to film his message in Afrikaans every week. After which we collected the camera’s memory cards from him and edited the footage (which would normally take two to three weeks) within one week. We continued with that week after week and even in spite of load shedding and power interruptions we managed to upload his messages in time every week. From the outset we realised that this would be an impossible task, humanly speaking, but we experienced the Lord carrying us “on eagle’s wings”. We realised that we would have to change course and trusted the Lord to show us the way forward. With the introduction of lockdown level 1 it was suggested that we should film only one video per month to upload for the last Sunday of each month. Last week while we were praying together with the leaders of the Christian Community Ministry and thereafter discussing this idea, it was suggested that because of the need that exists for these messages, we would continue sending out the Kerugma Bulletin weekly with the links to the previous already uploaded videos. As editors of the videos we know how beneficial it is to watch these DVDs over and over again. Each time we worked on a production, we learnt something new and what we had missed the previous time. We are therefore excited about the fact that people will be able to continue to watch these precious messages. And with the added benefit that there will be a new message uploaded for viewing, at the end of each month!
As you are aware, in addition to all of this action regarding the Afrikaans DVDs, we have also uploaded one of our existing English DVDs for the English speaking viewers on our mailing list. And thus the same procedure with regard to the repetition of those titles, weekly.
One of the reasons for pursuing this course of events, is that Marina and I had many other DVDs to edit. Just last week we received an inquiry about the 6 DVDs by Dr. Randall Smith regarding the life and letters of Paul as well as for my book, “Which Wine did Jesus Make and Why?” which we reported on in the Kerugma Bulletin of February. Of course it all came to a standstill with the lockdown and has to be resumed now. We trust that the set of 6 DVDs by Dr Randall Smith of the life and letters of Paul, will be available before the end of the year.
To keep you updated and informed, we will send out the Kerugma Bulletin weekly with the links to the different DVDs. In addition, a new audio clip of Neil's message will be available on www.kerugma.org under "Sermons", "Neil Olwagen". He is speaking Afrikaans and English alternatively during the same message.
Can we ask those of you who can visit the Kerugma website a big favour: when you receive the Bulletin, please do not click on the picture to watch the DVD but rather go to www.kerugma.org and click on the blue square on the home page for the free DVD. We have the picture link in the Bulletin to help people who are are not used to surfing the web.
The reason for this request is that the more people visiting the website, the more visible the website becomes on the internet. The result is that when someone somewhere in the world is looking for a subject that is available on our website, the search engines will direct the person to our website. Our desire is for people to discover the DVDs and learn the truth. And thus our request for method of viewing.
