When any man, woman or child anywhere in the world today places his or her trust in the living Jesus, that person is instantly translated out of the lost world of mankind and placed into (immersed into) the Body of Christ. The sealing of one’s ownership by Jesus is afterword forever sure. Circumstances in one’s daily life may not be changed right away but God’s promises are rock solid.

God is a Person. He has emotions, a mind, a will. He is self-aware and omniscient. As a Sentient Being, He is all about relationships: Knowing and responding to Him, and then serving others, or rather allowing Him to pour out His life for others. Knowing the father is always through knowing Jesus Christ. "All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him." (Matthew 11:27)

The Apostle Paul wrote two complementary letters showing us two aspects of what it means to know Jesus personally. His letter to the Colossians is about “Christ in you.” Ephesians emphasizes what it means for a follower of Jesus to be “in Christ.” To avoid lopsidedness in life it’s good idea to know something about both the inner and the outer facets of knowing the real Jesus.

"To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Colossians 1:27)

"...so that the multifaceted wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.This was in accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord..." (Ephesians 3:10-11)

When speaking to an audience, for example, it’s wise to ask Jesus to speak through you. Otherwise you’ll probably bore or mislead your audience. Speaking on your own authority means you’ll be

operating “in the flesh,” and you’ll achieve nothing of lasting value. Worse still, your friends may be too polite to tell you that Your Majesty is not wearing any clothes!

Being immersed into Christ is symbolized by water baptism.

“Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Christ in you, is symbolized by the physical act of taking communion.

"If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you."

Q: When are we placed into Christ?

A. When you first recognized Jesus and allowed Him into your life! This first step is commonly called spiritual rebirth. In actual fact we are both born into God’s family and we are also adopted!

Spiritual rebirth is analogous to being born physically from a mother’s womb.

We are supposed to grow up spiritually (not just physically) but we can move spiritually as rapidly as we wish. (Some Christians get stuck as you know and never grow up to really knowing Jesus very well!

You and I had not yet been born when Jesus died on the Cross for us! Think of the Crucifixion of Jesus as the most important event in all of history. Every follower of Jesus enters the gate of which can be thought of as time traveling to Jerusalem to be crucified with Him so our the resurrection life can follow. But “no cross, no crown.”

I am an heir of God, I am a member of the body of Christ, I am a partaker in the promises of God in Christ, I am a mirror that displays the glory of God to the natural and supernatural worlds. God's supernatural power is at work in me, My life displays the glory of God. (Ephesians 3)

I am a part of God's family, I have access to God by the Holy Spirit, I am reconciled to God through the cross of Jesus Christ, I have been brought near to God by the blood of Christ, I am God's workmanship - a masterpiece and a new creation - in Christ. I have been saved by grace through faith in Christ, I have been raised to new life in Christ and seated with him in heavenly places. (Ephesians 2)

As a member of the Body of Christ I am united to the Lord and represent him on earth, I participate in the Resurrection and Ascension of Christ because of the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. I have access to spiritual wisdom and insight in Christ by the Holy Spirit., I am indwelled and sealed by the Holy Spirit who guarantees my inclusion into the family of God. I have a wonderful inheritance of spiritual riches in Christ, I am redeemed and forgiven in Christ, I am accepted by God and a recipient of his grace. I am chosen and predestined for adoption to sonship by the Heavenly Father, I am blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ, I am a saint. (Ephesians 3)

Can all of us, can any of us claim the richness of this love, this hallowed gift through being in Christ and knowing Christ through us?
