Looking Back at Native American Heritage Month

We recently hosted virtual events in celebration of Native American Heritage Month including Lunchtime Conversations with Curators: Material Tradition (watch on YouTube) and a virtual talk with special guest Christian Takes Gun Parrish, a Native American dancer and innovative hip hop artist who goes by Supaman (watch on YouTube).
Look for the winners of the contest on our social media, announced today, Friday, November 20th!

In celebration of November's Native American Heritage month we partnered with the Native American Education, Research, and Cultural Center for a "Rock Your Mocs" photo contest. The contest was held November 15  - 19.

Entrants submitted moccasin images and captions for a chance to win one of three categories: Best Traditional Moccasins, Best Contemporary Moccasins, and  Best Unique Moccasins. The contest judges are Nicole Crawford, Sandra Iron Cloud, Caskey Russell.

Call For Entries: Juried UW Student Exhibition

The Call for Entries is officially open!

A highlight of the Art Museum’s exhibition program, the 46th Annual Juried University of Wyoming Student Exhibition presents the artwork from selected University of Wyoming students. Open to ANY student currently enrolled at UW, including in-state students in the Distance Learning Program, the 2021 exhibition is juried by Meredith Lynn, Assistant Curator and Director of Galleries, Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts.

SUBMISSION PROCESS - CaFÉ
Submit up to 3 artworks for consideration. Submit NOW through 11:59 p.m., Sunday, January 10, 2021. The call closes automatically and late submissions WILL NOT be accepted or considered. Application is free.

Now in our 28th year celebrating this annual holiday tradition, Happy Holidays, Laramie has gone virtual! Celebrate the season with generosity of spirit. Handmade ornaments were donated with the suggested theme "Global Holidays." Preview the ornaments December 1-2 and then get ready to bid December 3 - 5 on our Facebook page.  

In addition to the ornament auction, we invite all of you to a virtual celebration featuring local music talent, visual art by all Albany County schools, and art making courtesy of the Art Museum.

Thursday, December 3 enjoy a welcome from Director and Chief Curator of the Art Museum, Nicole Crawford and visual art from local students.  

Saturday, December 5 will be a Family Saturday event where you can make art virtual alongside our educators, view more Albany County art and watch celebratory pre-recorded performances. Join us for these free events!
