Layout editors are the powerhouses behind each of the beautiful spreads featured in our publication, making magic with a wave of a cursor so that students’ writing and art can be showcased with the pizzazz they deserve.

For this hiring round, we’ll be providing training in layout design and specifically in using Adobe InDesign to all successful applicants, so that expertise with this software is no longer a requirement. We are looking for applicants who are creative and ready to learn most of all. As in the previous hiring round, we will prioritize marginalized folks, including folks who are racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, and/or disabled/have a disability, in the hiring process; please make disclosures when you are comfortable, if at all!

About Incite

Est. 1997, Incite Magazine is McMaster University’s independent arts and culture publication featuring personal essays, fiction, poetry, commentary, research, interviews, sketches, photography, paintings, digital art, and more. We aim to foster the growth of a creative community promoting self-expression, collaboration, and dialogue within our university campus and city of Hamilton. Every aspect of Incite’s writing, graphics, layout, video, and event production is carried out by our wonderful student volunteers.

McMaster sits on the traditional territory shared between the Haudenosaunee confederacy and the Anishinabe nations, which was acknowledged in the Dish with One Spoon wampum belt. That wampum uses the symbolism of a dish to represent the territory, and one spoon to represent that the people are to share the resources of the land and only take what they need.
