National Child Day is this Friday!

We invite you to join our live digital event on November 20 at 1 p.m. ET to celebrate the rights of all 8 million kids in Canada.

This year, young people from across Canada will discuss what it means to be #SeenAndHeard. We’ll also hear from youth activists, Canada’s leading voices for children’s rights, government and industry leaders, and more.

CBC Kids News Contributor Arjun Ram will host the event, including a live interview with Canadian basketball player Michael Linklater, a Nehiyaw (Cree) descending from the Thunderchild First Nation. The Hon. Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, will also make a special appearance – along with other prominent federal leaders on Parliament Hill.

Celebrating what matters most

When children speak up about their rights, it sets them on a life-long path to be more actively engaged citizens. Sara Austin, Children First Canada's founder and CEO, explains the importance of celebrating the rights of children and why they need to be #SeenAndHeard.

Speak up for young people

One in three children in Canada do not enjoy a safe and healthy childhood, and the impacts of COVID-19 have made things worse. If you're a young person, you can take action to support your peers. And if you're an adult, you can speak up for kids, too! Sign our Call to Action today to urge the federal government to invest in children and protect their rights.
