Studio art major paints mural at Books & Brews South Indy

Seventy hours. That is how long University of Indianapolis senior studio art major with a concentration in painting Leah Diekhoff spent painting a mural for Books & Brews South Indy.

Owner and operator of Books & Brews South Indy Keith Fetchman said that he reached out to the Department of Art & Design last year to see if there were any students interested in painting a mural. Diekhoff said that her department recommended her.

Husband and wife team Aaron Kivisto, University of Indianapolis assistant professor of clinical psychology, and Katie Kivisto, associate professor of clinical child psychology, co-authored and published a study examining the relationship between adolescent suicide rates and household gun ownership.

Hounds History: Recapping the 2019 UIndy Soccer Season


The University of Indianapolis soccer teams had historic seasons for both the men’s and women’s teams. The women’s soccer team had a short run in the GLVC tournament but made it to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2009, according to UIndy Athletics.

The men’s soccer team, led by Head Coach John Higgins, had a good season ending with the NCAA finals, according to UIndy Athletics. The current season is expected to begin in the spring, according to UIndy Athletics.

Tackling Indianapolis’ wastefulness

Indianapolis has been labeled as the most wasteful city in the United States, according to an article from RTV6. City environmental organizations, such as the Indiana Recycling Coalition and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, have established initiatives to offer ways for people to keep clean and live more sustainably.
