A note from our President!
November 16, 2020
Hello fellow glass members-
Hard to believe November is half over! This year, as strange as it has been, has allowed the holidays to kind of creep up on us, well me at least. Maybe it is because I haven’t had the usual cadence of events that prompt me to mark time passing marching towards the holidays. Bead Bonanza in October usually kicked things off, with Winter Wonders quickly following the first weekend in November. Various other craft shows, the weekends before and after Thanksgiving, and holiday baking with the grandchildren. I once heard a saying, the days are long, but the years are short, and it appears to fit what many of us are experiencing this year.
We are planning a Zoom meeting on Sunday, November 22nd at 4 pm. We have general business, elections, and planning to do for the new year of 2021!
For the elections:
Patsy LeBlanc is running for Treasurer
Cyndy Gohsman has agreed to run again for Vice President
Both candidates are running unopposed.
It is never to early to start thinking about running for office next year, as the open positions will be president and secretary. If you have not considered volunteering before, consider volunteering. It is a great way to support the guild!
The board and the guild members want to thank Susan Richards for her years of service to the guild as treasurer. She kept the money safe, and our group out of trouble with the tax man. Thank you so much Susan! We appreciated all the time and effort!
Hopefully we are working on our ornament challenge! All current members should have received a “Frit O’Gram” in the mail. If you did not receive a package, and are a current member, please reach out to a board member. We had a few hiccups, but believe everything has been sorted out.
As a reminder, the ornaments are due to Pam by November 30th- coming up quick folks! Hopefully you can find some time over the Thanksgiving break to get to your torch, as many of us will be staying home for the Thanksgiving break.
As mentioned previously, We are scheduling a holiday Zoom party on December 13th at 4:00 to do the Frit O’ Gram ornament reveal, have a holiday celebration, and wish everybody a happy holiday season.
We also have some challenges coming up with Double Helix glass in the New Year! And Double Helix is providing a great prize for participants in the challenges.
And in case you haven’t noticed, The ISGB is holding Second Sunday events with prominent glass peeps. The event is free if you are an ISGB member
I hope you are doing well, taking care of you and your family, and finding some time to be creative.
Take care and we hope to see your faces on Sunday the 22nd, at 4 pm. Be on the look- out for the Zoom meeting invitation.
If we don’t get to see you on Sunday- I wish you and your families a safe and healthy Thanksgiving!
Pam
