MARKER LIGHTS

November 2020 Special Edition

Christmas Time is Here Again!

In the November issue of Marker Lights we outlined Midwest's early plans for a somewhat scaled back version of our annual Christmas events. As a result of the large number of phone calls and emails received regarding our intentions, the Board of Trustees has decided to move forward and hold events on the first two weekends of December.  The Saturday events will take place on December 5th and 12th beginning at 4:00pm and ending at 8:00pm. The Sunday events will be on December 6th and 13th from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Admission is $10 per person for adults and $5 each for children ages 3 to 12.

Being well aware of the recent spikes of the Covid 19 virus, extra precautions will be taken to ensure a safe environment for all volunteers and visitors. Reservations for groups of ten or less will need to be made on line through the Etix link (below) with reserved time slots for day and time. Times can be reserved at 20 minute intervals. Because of ongoing construction projects at the roundhouse, outside displays will be on a smaller scale than last year, but a train ride will still be offered with the event lasting about one hour. Santa and the Grinch have the roundhouse on their schedule but due to safety considerations will not be available for individual visitation or close up photos. Santa's elves are working out a plan for safe interactions and photo ops.

To maintain safety, individual groups will be asked to remain in their cars upon arrival while one member of the group checks in at the roundhouse. After check-in, a Midwest tour guide will lead the group from their cars through the tour and train ride, and after their interaction with Santa be asked to return to their cars to avoid overlapping of groups. As always, masks will be required and plenty of hand sanitizer will be available. Absolutely no one will be admitted without a mask. Additional safety precautions may be added as the events draw near depending on state mandates.

Reserve your day and time for the Midwest Christmas Tour and Train Ride by clicking the ticket below. Once connected to Etix, scroll down to December and choose your desired slot.
