Dear Catholic School Families,

The Archdiocesan COVID-19 Task Force and Office of Catholic Schools are seeking your feedback at a critical juncture in the school year as we head into the holidays amid rising levels of COVID-19 infection in surrounding communities. Your perspectives, and those of our school leaders and educators, will help us assess what adjustments might be necessary to support the continuance of a successful school year.

Please complete this
very brief, 2-minute anonymous survey by 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18.

On behalf of the entire team, I want to share my immense gratitude for the families of our Catholic schools who are cooperating with their principals and teachers to support our students this year. Your diligence to follow safety protocols and guidelines is what helps most in keeping our schools very safe during this pandemic.

Yours in Christ,

Jim Rigg, Ph.D.
Superintendent of Catholic Schools
Clarifying Approach to Winter Athletics

To clarify what was shared previously, after carefully studying recent guidance from the state and the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA), we have decided that winter sports games will not be allowed this year. Practicing and conditioning may occur in select sports, following state guidance. For more information, see the IDPH guidance on youth sports. Note that competitions will not be allowed in Catholic schools, even when allowable by the state.

Family Faith Formation Resources

Throughout November we pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, the souls of our departed loved ones, and for those souls who have no one to pray for them. Here are a few resources for your reference:

Have questions? Your principal is the best first contact about operations, safety procedures and academics as they are best addressed at the school level.
