Garden Corner: USU's November Garden Tips
Thank you to Utah State University Extension's monthly garden tips. If you haven't already prepared for winter, here is a helpful reminder of tasks to complete at the end of the growing season.

Colder weather is here, which makes it all too easy to ignore the work that waits outside. But by accomplishing a few simple chores before winter takes over, you can ensure healthier and happier plants next spring. Here are a few tips to get you started.
  • If natural precipitation is sparse and the ground is not frozen, water evergreen trees and shrubs to ensure they are well hydrated heading into winter.
  • Blow out irrigation systems, winterize lawnmowers, and rototillers by either draining the gas or adding a fuel stabilizer. Be sure to read and follow manufacturer recommendations.
  • Clean and sharpen dirty garden tools and treat them with old oil or other rust inhibiting products
  • Disconnect hoses from water spouts to avoid freezing damage
