Dear <<First Name>>,
We are very excited to offer the simply awesome wines by Ferraton Pere et Fils, from the Rhone Valley. We have been a big fans of these delicious and in comparison to the big names in the appellations, very good value wines, for a few years now.
The quality from the Rhone Valley has been amazing for a number of years with hardly a bad vintage on record since 2000 (according to Wine Advocate), with only 2002, 2008 and 2013 not making the grade.
Certainly the last 3 vintages (2015 - 2017) have been hailed as exceptional by the critics and 2018 is looking just as good.

Josh Raynolds (Vinous.com)
“The Ferratons have access to some of the best vineyards in the region, and certainly get the most of them, as these unadorned 2018's and 2017’s prove. Made by the extremely talented Damien Brisset, these are, in my estimation, the best wines ever here, while pricing has yet to catch up.”

With a range that extends to 13 different wines and terriors, we have split the offers into 3 digestible reads.
In Part II we will be focusing on the Red wines made from Syrah which features a range of wines from Crozes-Hermitage, Cornas, Cote-Rotie and Hermiatge, from the top to the bottom of the Northern Rhone Valley.
We have featured the November 2020 critical reviews from James Molesworth at Wine Spectator which have been nothing short of glowing. Additionally we have included Jeb Dunnuck's scores (previously writing for Wine Advocate) for a considered view and scoring even higher in all but one review!
The sad reality is the production of Rhone Whites are very low, especially compared to Reds, with some wines not making it across the channel and this is reflected in the minuscule number of cases produced by Ferraton.

Jeb Dunnuck
“This tiny Northern Rhône estate continues to produce a colossal lineup of wines.
While they pull from top estate terroirs around Hermitage and the Northern Rhône, they also have a large négoçiant line that’s loaded with value”

The considerable selection of Ferraton wines are split into 3 ranges :-
Signature (brown cap) - The Signature underlines the extraordinary qualities of our Rhône appellations. Showcasing the best of this authentic terroir using, in most cases, biodynamic methods.
Lieux-Dits (green cap) - Goes beyond expressing the unique characteristics of the key appellations of the northern Rhône, to showcase the particular qualities of some of the finest vineyard sites in the region.
These wines highlight the diversity of terroirs available to the Ferraton winemaking team.
Selections Parcellaires (silver cap) - Produced in tiny quantities from biodynamically farmed vineyards, these wines are the ultimate expression of individual plots on the hill of Hermitage. Rare and with much critical acclaim, they feature amongst the finest wines of the appellation.
All these wines will cellar well but with so little available, Rhone lovers will need to grab a case while they can. All at the best prices in the UK for 6 case formats.

James Molesworth (Wine Spectator)
“Ferraton Père Fils owned by Michel Chapoutier but operated independently, has quietly asserted itself in recent vintages. Under winemaker Damien Brisset, the domaine is turning out compelling wines without the limelight of the region’s better known producers, while delivering some relative value”

"Glass-staining violet. Expansive aromas of fresh berries, candied flowers and spices, plus a smoky mineral nuance that gains strength as the wine opens up. Stains the palate with appealing sweet black raspberry and cherry liqueur flavors that display sharp definition and become spicier on the back half. Shows excellent clarity and floral thrust on an impressively long finish framed by fine-grained, even tannins."
