In our last issue, we featured projects and activities across our grade levels. This month, we are highlighting our special subject classes. Click here for more information on special subjects, including grade levels and subject matter. Kindergartners also attend Integrity Time, and sixth graders take part in Biblical Leadership. (*Items used in special subject classes are each sanitized between use.)
BRICKS 4 KIDS
K3 and K4 preschool specials include Bricks 4 Kids. Students build a new project each week using classic LEGO® elements.

ART
Third graders drew and colored airplanes and aerial views in art class.

ELEVATE
Sixth grade students studied various learning styles, including ways they each study most effectively. They created devices that displayed their unique personalities and learning styles.

IDEA LAB
Fourth grade students are learning the basics of coding and engineering using apps on the iPads.

LIBRARY
Second graders read books they checked out and created Pumpkin Book Reports. These have been on display in the FPDS library.

MUSIC (upper and lower school)
Kindergartners use rhythm sticks, and fifth graders played “Lean on Me” with boomwhackers to reinforce following directions and to learn to build rhythmic patterns.

WORD WORKS
Special guests visited first and second grade classes, including Annie Adjective, Action (Verb) Jackson (pictured), and Fancy (Noun) Nancy.

BIBLE AND CHAPEL
Third graders completed a project in time for Thanksgiving, showing what they are thankful for on a cross.

“O that you would rend the heavens and come down...!” is our Chapel theme for 2020-2021. Click here to read a detailed letter from Gary Sinclair, our FPDS chaplain.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
On October 16, our PE classes were held for the last time in the current gymnasium. Students (including the sixth grade class pictured here) played platoon, a long-standing tradition at FPDS,  and signed their names to the gym floor.
