Will you be getting this card from me?
Hi there, friend!

I hope this week's issue finds you happy and healthy!

We all got covid last week, so we're not exactly healthy here, but I am happy to have all my chicks around me in the nest as we weather this together. Thankfully, it seems to be a mild case for everyone.

The weirdest thing for me about covid (besides the red scratchy werewolf eyes--did you know that was a thing?) has been losing my sense of taste and smell. If you've never experienced that before, let me just tell you it saps a good deal of enjoyment out of fall, food, and life in general!

I have great hopes that my sense of smell and taste will return before Thanksgiving dinner (I got one tantalizing whiff of lasagna last night!!) but the experience has reminded me of how quickly life changes and becomes emptied of joy.

I have friends and family members whose lives have recently changed dramatically from loss, cmedical diagnoses or financial upheaval, and I can imagine it is like suddenly losing one of your senses. Once the initial shock and grief is over, the world is still flattened, monotonous and unenjoyable.

Your handmade card and the words you write inside it might be like that tantalizing whiff of garlic and ricotta was for me yesterday. A reminder that things will be good again someday. That this, too, shall pass. That will we come out again on the other side and stand again with our face in the sunshine.

And this time we won't take the simple pleasures, like the taste of perfectly brewed morning coffee or the bursting sweetness of a clementine, for granted.

Put your creations in the mail this week, my darlings! Your card might be just the encouragement they need to keep trusting that there will be joy again. And in the meantime there are people who see them and care about them.

Stay safe--and stay stampin!

You want to use ALL your talents for the Lord, right? Well, cardmaking is definitely one of those, and it creates the perfect opportunity to minister in your congregation. Not only will it bless those who receive a tangible reminder that someone is praying for them, it will be a wonderful source of fellowship as you gather to make cards.
I've compiled a bunch of tips and aspects to consider as you begin a systematic plan for reaching out to those in need with encouragement and hope.
