The Johnston Partnership is so grateful for all of the support we have received throughout this very atypical year. It has certainly been a crazy year for all of us, and we appreciate that our community continues to think of us by making monetary contributions, volunteering and by donating food, clothing and personal care items that benefit our neighbors. As 2020 comes to a close, we would like to remind you of ways that you can continue to help the Johnston Partnership as we help those in need throughout our community!

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Johnston Gives program looks a little different this year. We are providing families with a gift card to either Fareway or Walmart, to use for holiday meal or gift purchases. Last year, we helped almost 450 students in the Johnston
Community School District have a brighter holiday. This year, we want to collect $18,000 so these kids have something to look forward to as 2020 draws to a close. Money can be donated in person (during our operating hours), mailed to our PO Box 975 in Johnston, or given online at our website. Please specify that your donation benefits Johnston Gives in the Special Instructions line online. There's no amount too small, as it all goes to kids right here in our community!

Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. This movement has created an international day of charitable giving at the beginning of the Christmas and holiday season. This year, Giving Tuesday is on December 1st. The Johnston Partnership would be grateful if you considered our organization on Giving Tuesday, or any other day, by making a monetary gift.

We are always looking for volunteers to help us out at the pantry. Our volunteer positions include front door greeter, back door donations, food pantry volunteers, and clothing room volunteers. Volunteers for the food pantry and clothes closet must be at least 16 years old unless a parent is volunteering along side them. We need volunteers on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings with our volunteer time spots either 8:45am-11:15am or 10:45am-1:15pm.  In order to keep our volunteers and staff safe during this pandemic, we are not allowing any clients in the building, and we are requiring masks to be worn inside at all times. Did you know that you can support the Johnston Partnership while shopping at Amazon this holiday season? With their AmazonSmile program, it is so easy to do through the Amazon shopping app on iOS and Android mobile phones! Simply follow these steps:
  1. Open the Amazon Shopping app on your device
  2. Go into the main menu of the Amazon Shopping app & tap into "Settings"
  3. Tap "AmazonSmile" & follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process

The Johnston Partnership continues to accept all donations. We are always in need of personal care products (toilet paper, deodorant, soap, paper towels, toothpaste, shampoo, diapers, etc.) as well as nonperishable, unexpired food items or fresh produce. Clothing donations are also accepted, however please limit your donations to 5 bags or less. Maybe consider a neighborhood food or personal care item drive to help us out this holiday season!

Donations can be dropped off at the west door of the Johnston Partnership (5870 Merle Hay Road Suite C in Johnston, Iowa) during regular business hours (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 9am-1pm).
