Stories of us making it happen
Dear codebar community,

As we wrap up 2020 we wanted to reflect on a challenging but ultimately rewarding year for codebar.

2020 has been a tumultuous year in many ways. At the beginning of February we became a registered charity, just in time for the pandemic to shake up our plans less than a month later. In March, as our hosts began cancelling in-person workshops, we found ourselves having to completely rethink how we run our events. With the help of our community and lots of work from the trustees and chapter organisers, within the span of mere weeks we moved all of our workshops and events online.

This initially unwelcome development proved to be a net positive for codebar and it's community. What better illustrates this than the fact that our first virtual Monthly (a London based event that usually caters to around 30–40 attendees), saw 140 people join from several countries. Since then our virtual workshops and events have gone from strength to strength, with a whopping 160 people attending our annual unconference from 20 countries.

Which is to say we are incredibly grateful for our amazing community for sticking with us during a difficult year, for attending our workshops and event with such enthusiasm, and for rallying around us while we figured out a way forward.
