Introducing LibKey Nomad Browser Extension

LibKey Nomad is a browser extension that quickly finds full text copies of journal article PDFs as you browse the Internet. Nomad scans the content of pages that match its extensive list of publisher and scholarly database domains as they are loaded in your browser. If the page contains a journal article Digital Object Identifier (DOI), Nomad will attempt to locate a PDF of the article. It looks for access in several places, including:
  • The library affiliated publisher holdings
  • Aggregator databases
  • Open access repositories
Nomad overlays an icon in the lower left corner of your browser screen that varies depending on whether or not a PDF is located:
  • One click for articles with a direct path to the PDF file.
  • One click for articles where HTML full text or a non-direct link to a PDF file is available.

  • For articles that are located in repositories and are not the final versions but are accepted manuscripts, Nomad labels these as “Accepted Manuscripts” and indicates if it is a PDF or an article link as appropriate.
  • When Nomad cannot locate full text for the article, it leads you to the library's Interlibrary Loan Service via  “Access Options" button.

How to Add LibKey Nomad to Your Browser?

  • Visit LibKeyNomad.com
  • Select Google Chrome
  • Click “Add to Chrome”
  • Search for and select New York Institute of Technology in the drop down menu.
  • It will be added to your browser which will facilitate accessing full text literature by One-Click.
Find Articles by DOI or PMID

Do you have an article DOI or PubMed ID (PMID) and want to see if the article is available through the Library? Simply click on Articles by DOI or PMID icon under "Find" section on the library webpage

If the article is available, you will see the options for the PDF or the article link. If the article is unavailable, you will still have the option to submit a request through Interlibrary Loan (ILL).
