When we had to suspend our services on 16 March, we didn’t anticipate that we were going to be closed for more than six months. It’s been a difficult year for everyone, I think. As well as waiting through lockdown, we have had to make changes at St Leonard’s to ensure that coming to the clinic is low risk, in line with NHS standards.
We opened up on 2 November. So if you want to use the service, just give us a ring on 020 7739 2533. We look forward to seeing you in our new Covid Secure clinic.
You’ll notice some differences when you get there:
Everyone has to come in through the main entrance where you will have your temperature taken.
You will be given a mask if you haven’t got one of your own – nobody is allowed in the hospital without one.
If you have a smartphone with the tracing app on it, you can click in with the QR code there. If you don’t, you don’t have to do anything else.
The lift has been completely overhauled and is now (almost) a pleasure to use.
When you get to the second floor, you will ring the bell as usual and, once you enter, you will be asked to clean your hands.
Reception has been changed and there is a barrier in place in front of the desk to protect you from close contact with the receptionist. We can accept payments by card now, as well as in cash or by cheque.
We’ve changed the clinic timetable so there will only be one person waiting in Reception at any one time. That means that you have to stay downstairs in reception until 5 or 10 minutes before your appointment. We have had to close our toilet, so please take this opportunity to use the toilet on the ground floor, which is having extra cleaning, before you come up to us.
Your practitioner will be ready for you because they have extra time now to clean the room throughly between patients.
All practitioners will be wearing the PPE that is necessary for them to keep you safe and volunteers and staff will be wearing masks.
Sadly, we are unable to offer anyone refreshments.
Initially, we will be starting with just Acupuncture, Osteopathy and Foot Health*. We will be expanding the range of treatments we can offer when we are sure that everything is going well.
*Foot health: If you are over 55 and have been affected by Covid-19 and need your toenails cut or minor foot problems dealt with, call us to make an appointment. We have extra funding to do extra clinics. If you can’t get out we can do HOME VISITS too. All treatments cost £15 and, at your first appointment, you need to buy a kit to stop cross-infection (£8), if you are going to use us again in the future.
Obviously, if you suspect that you have Covid symptoms, we ask you NOT to come to the clinic, but to let us know as soon as possible so we can fill the space. All our practitioners will be confirming that they are symptom-free before they come in, too.
Because we have to keep everything clean, please don’t bring in any unnecessary bags and we would also ask you to ask any carer to wait in the downstairs reception so we can keep people apart in our small clinic.
If you would like to see our policy, we can send it out to you; just give us a ring, or send an email.
We hope to be seeing you over the next weeks and months and we look forward to being part of the way you stay well.
