This is it, my last official message as President of the best cycling club in the world. Five years ago I stepped into the lead and what a ride it's been. Last night during our AGM, Ron Rehel was elected president so my time at the front has ended. Many of you you have reached out through email and social media with your kind words and I thank you all sincerely.
My proudest accomplishments is planting the seed that flowered into the eGALS in conjunction with Janis Nixon, Paolina Allan, Robyn Toffolo and so many other awesome women. I'm going to have to put on a really good disguise so I can ride with these ladies, they know how to have fun! (and by fun I mean eat and drink).
Honourable mentions go to the new kit design working in conjunction with a team of very creative and perhaps strange (but in a good way) people, our improved website through the efforts of Pat Tuero, and our schedule of planned routes through the efforts of Michael Chong, Dave Hammond and many others.
I know the club is in good hands. Ron has some great plans and the means and contacts to get them done. Did you know he's the first club president under the age of 50? New rides, new roads and new energy. Please give Ron the support you gave me.
It's been an interesting year with lots of change and personal challenges. I retired in April, then over six days in October we sold our house of 27 years in Newmarket, became empty nesters, became grandparents for the first time and bought a new house in Barrie. Phew. It's close to the country and perfect for Granddad and his bike. I won't join as many Eagles rides but I won't be a stranger either. So it's not good-bye, but see-you-later. I'm going to rotate to the back now.............................
