Volunteer for Fireworks Committee

Southern Crossing Neighborhood Association (SCNA) is looking for someone who is concerned about illegal fireworks (and lack of enforcement) in Bend and overall fire safety in our neighborhood.

You will represent SCNA at meetings with at least 5 other neighborhood associations that had a large number of firework complaints, City staff, and the fire department. It is a short term commitment, and involves attending virtual meetings.

If you were personally affected by illegal fireworks, we encourage you to take this opportunity to help reduce and eliminate the use of them in Bend. Email hello@bendscna.org if interested.

SCNA Board Q&A with Chair and NLA Rep Karen Bergsvik

Why did you join the SCNA board?
What do you enjoy about being a board member?

I am on the SCNA board as I am inquisitive and want to know what is happening in my neighborhood / near where I live. I want to get to know my neighbors to create a sense of community.

I also want to make my neighborhood better - whether that is safer, cleaner, or easier to walk/bike.

I live near old Box Factory and a development called Korpine will be built there in the future. Through the SCNA I can learn more about this project as it evolves & by being active with my neighborhood association hopefully I can help influence its design and impacts. By being on the Board of the SCNA and representing Southern Crossing on the NLA (Neighborhood Leadership Alliance), I learn about proposed developments before they start construction and have early insight into large developments and other projects in our neighborhood and throughout the City of Bend.

~ Karen Bergsvik
