Greetings from Fr. David McCallum SJ
Recorded Session of Massimo Faggioli in the DL course
Article from Amy Edmondson and Thomas Chamorro on Vulnerability
Award to Pat Murray from the President of Ireland
Dear Friends in Christ,

In the words of Paul to Titus, Christ “saves us through a bath of rebirth and the renewal by the Holy Spirit.” In these COVID times of VUCA and disruption, we hope that you are availing yourselves of time and space for rest, reflection, and the kind of refreshment that we know can only come through prayer.

We want to share with you today the recording of Massimo Faggioli’s talk for the English participants on the historical shift in emphasis from the collegiality of bishops in Vatican II, to the importance of collegiality in the wider milieu of synodality. We look forward to editing and sharing other recordings soon.

Also, please find attached the article by Harvard educators Amy Edmondson and Thomas Chamorro-Premuzic: “Today's Leaders Need Vulnerability Not Bravado” This reflection on vulnerability will resonate with those of you who have experienced our Program, or who have learned from experience how essential humility and vulnerability are to truly transforming servant leadership.

Last but not least, we want to share the extraordinary award that Sr. Pat Murray, the UISG Secretary and Board member of the Discerning Leadership Program, will receive next month from the President of Ireland for her remarkable contribution to Ireland.

Peace and all good things to you and your communities,

David and the Discerning Leadership Team

Article from Amy Edmondson and Thomas Chamorro

Today's Leaders Need Vulnerability Not Bravado

"Few myths are as pervasive as the notion that leaders ought to appear tough and confident. Or at least, that was the case prior to the current pandemic, which has exposed the many weaknesses of forceful, dominant leaders and highlighted the superiority of those who have the courage to reveal their vulnerabilities."

In this article, Amy Edmondson and Thomas Chamorro-Premuzic expose a brilliant argument about the important relation between vulnerability and leadership in today's context.
