Township Continues Testing for New Well Field

At its Nov. 9 meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a bid to move forward with test well drilling and water testing at a potential new well field.

The bid – slightly more than $67,000 – will include drilling, pumping, sampling and water testing to determine if the water supply is a viable source for the Water Department.

Located along Coit Avenue, the well field would be used to better meet municipal water customers’ needs, especially during the summer when water usage is the highest, and as the Township continues to connect nearly 1,000 homes to its water system following the Wolverine Worldwide settlement.

Remember to Shake Your Mailbox Before Winter

As you gear up for the snowy months, the Kent County Road Commission is reminding you to shake your mailbox to make sure it is winter ready.

Before the snow falls, give your mailbox a good shake. If it moves easily, it likely needs maintenance to withstand the snow coming off plow trucks. Tighten screws and ensure your mailbox post and receptacle are secure enough to endure large amounts of heavy snow being thrown.
