All the leaves are brown...

Hello and welcome to newsletter number two of the hellfire year that is 2020!

Thanks and a big HI to new subscribers!

As before I will keep this short and sweet.

This month I want to share the following with you:

These rainbow-bright booklets for long-time client The Diversity Trust. I created the Progress Pride Flag-inspired digital illustration in Adobe Illustrator and the layout in InDesign.
The TransBareAll book is going to be out in February, so I won't be sharing the illustrations until then! I can't wait to show you - I’m so excited about them. Here is a photo of one of the editors, Lee, holding a proof copy (all 288 pages of it!), taken from their instagram. You can pre-order the book from TransBareAll here - the contributions are STUNNING and I can't recommend it highly enough! I'm so proud to have been asked to be involved at such a high level!
& here is the illustration from my own written submission in the book, which you might recognise if you bought a copy of my Being Frank book.
The equalities branch of high-profile trade union ASLEF asked me to create a logo for them – I worked with their existing branding to create the following, which I’m really proud of. The logo is designed to work well on an enamel pin badge, which their members wear.
I also want to show you some illustrations I’ve created for an up-coming publication about mental health, designed in English and in Welsh
If you’ve been following my Plague Diary on Instagram, you’ll have met the crows – these gleeful dark characters have been stomping all over the daily diary. They seemed to be pretty popular so I decided to use them to raise some money. I’ve created lots of postcard-sized original paintings/mixed media works. They’re £30 each and all proceeds go to trans charities. Have a look and buy them here!
I've created a couple more lino prints this month, and these ones are super limited. This one is inspired by a fragment of Sappho's poetry and is limited to 4 copies - read more about it here
...and this one, "Crow Steals the Sun", is limited to 4 copies and features three coats of metallic gold paint to highlight the sun. Read more about it here
Other news: I’ve been doing some visiting lecturer work for Falmouth University’s MA in Illustration: Authorial Practice – leading a 3-hour workshop on illustration that critiques societal norms.

Next month I am hoping to be able to show you the annual review for an equalities project and a logo I’m currently working on for a queer project based in Exeter – which has been linocut!

I’m currently booking in work for January – please do get in touch if there’s anything you feel I can help you with. Happy to chat informally & of course provide a no-obligation quote.
Hope you are all keeping safe and well. Here is your promised kitten! There won't be a newsletter next month, because Christmas, so have a good one, & I'll be in touch in January!
