First (Scots) Youth Ministry Update!

First (Scots)

Youth Ministry

Sunday, November 15 (5-6pm)

Help us plan Youth Sunday 2021 (February 7)!  We’ll gather by Zoom and spend time continuing our Psalm of the Week devotion series before brainstorming and voting on this year’s Youth Sunday theme and signing up for parts.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity to help lead worship for our entire congregation!  Check out photos from Youth Sunday 2020.   To attend, please use our 2020-2021 youth group zoom access link or request one by emailing your name to James Rogers by 4:30pm on Sunday.

Care Packages Received!

On November 1, the youth prepared over fifty care packages for college and boarding school students.  These packages contained devotional guides, Sunday bulletins, Burning Bush stickers, school supplies, crayons, coloring sheets, homemade cookies, candy, and snacks.  And the packages have been a hit!  Jules Harper writes, "Beyond grateful for a church family like First Scots!!!! Thank you guys so much!!!!!"  Meg Truluck said, "Thank you and the whole youth group for the package!!"  Daniel Killough writes, "Just received y'alls care package from youth group and wanted to say thank you as always!"  And check out this video from Caroline Main, Grace Gehlken, and their roommate as they open their boxes.  What fun it was to send these packages both near and far, including to Notre Dame (congratulations on the win), South Dakota, and Scotland!

Psalm of the Week Devotion

Each youth group we read a Psalm and discuss its meaning for our lives.  Both youth and youth advisors are encouraged to review the available slots and sign up to lead a Psalm of the Week devotion.  Please feel free to be creative!  Your devotion can be in one of many formats: video, paper, in person, social media, music and more.  All we ask is that you share a specific Psalm and what it says to you and the church.  Two examples are included in the SignUpGenius.  Thank you for considering this opportunity!

Need a Break and some Peace?

Then get out the crayons, colored pencils, or markers and color this prayer or peace dove.  Then hang it up as a reminder of God's presence, comfort, and peace or mail it to someone who could use some encouragement.  God of presence and strength, help us feel you here with us when we are anxious and afraid, when the future feels unwieldy and uncertain....
