Norfolk 2020 VCSE Annual Conference (Virtual) Programme
23rd to 27th November
We hope that you will join us during our virtual 2020 Norfolk VCSE Annual Conference, as we deliver a series of free sessions that will provide inspiration, be thought provoking and practically useful for a wide range of VCSE organisations. It will also be a valuable opportunity to share experiences, particularly given the difficult times we have all been adapting to this year.
Don’t forget to register HERE to keep up to date with announcements as further information will be added regularly. Due to the significant interest in this event, we are setting a limit on the number of attendees for each session to encourage people to only book onto session they are likely to attend. Booking for each session will open at 9:00am on Monday 16th November.
Below is our current programme under the theme of “Survive, Drive and Thrive” - supporting VCSE organisations to survive the challenges we are currently facing and drive forward the changes we want to see, so that we can thrive as organisations and communities. Monday 23rd November
10:00 to 11:30 - Building and Shaping a Better Future
Our first guest speakers are:

Katie Turner (Deputy Head of Research at The Institute for Voluntary Action Research (IVAR)) - an independent charity that works closely with people and organisations striving for social change.

Seth Reynolds (Principal Consultant for Systems Change, NPC) - helping charities and funders improve their strategies and maximise impact through more systemic working.
They will be sharing their insights and inspiration on how we can build on the adaptation and innovation shown so far this year, to influence and shape a better future for people and communities.
14:00 to 15:30 - Direction of Health and Social Care in Norfolk
We will be live with Melanie Craig (Chief Officer, Norfolk & Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group) and James Bullion (Executive Director, Adult Social Services, Norfolk County Council) to discuss the strategic direction of health and social care in Norfolk. After listening to their own perspectives on aspects of this topic we will be asking them a selection of questions from VCSE colleagues and then opening up the discussion to attendees.

Tuesday 24th November
09:30 to 10:30 - Challenging Social Injustice in adults’ health and social care services
Belinda Schwehr from CASCAIDr will be delivering an interactive session on the issues and opportunities when challenging social injustice in adults’ health and social care.
12:30 to 14:30 - A VCSE Health and Social Care Assembly for Norfolk & Waveney
Covid-19 has highlighted the vital role of the VCSE sector in delivering health and social care services throughout Norfolk and Waveney. In this session you can find out how your organisation can work more closely and collaboratively with health and care partners within the emerging Integrated Care System through the new VCSE Assembly. Hear from the VCSE Assembly Steering Group about developments over the past year, next steps for the future and how you can get involved. Featuring:

Wednesday 25th November
10:00 to 12:00 - Developing and Sustaining Community Based Voluntary Action
We will be bringing together co-ordinators from North Walsham Good Neighbour Scheme, Mattishall Volunteer Hub and Great Hockham Good Neighbour Scheme to learn from their experiences of helping and supporting vulnerable residents in their communities. As groups at different stages of development this will provide an opportunity to understand the factors involved in successfully developing and sustaining grassroots community-based voluntary action. Following short presentations from each group there will be Q&A and open discussion.
12:30 to 13:30 - Engaging and Influencing Parliament
Nikki Luke, Senior Education and Engagement Officer for the East of England, will be delivering a politically neutral session on the opportunities for engaging with and influencing Parliament to help to ensure the voices of those we support are heard. No previous knowledge required.
14:00 to 16:00 - Working in Partnership to Collectively Campaign and Influence.
Our panel of guest speakers will share their unique insights on how to work in partnership to collectively campaign and effectively influence. Featuring:

Friday 27th November
AM - Developing and Sustaining Volunteering in your organisation
This practical and interactive training session on the key elements of developing and sustaining good volunteer management is aimed at small to medium sized VCSEs. It will provide useful information, tools and resources to support and involve volunteers in your organisation.
14:00 to 15:30 - Funding Top Tips
Are you applying for funding for the first time? This session will help you understand what you need to consider before making an application, where to look for the funding you need and what to expect when you get it.

During this week we also want to showcase the adaptability and innovation of local VCSE organisations so that we can learn from and inspire each other. To do this we will be running a social media campaign that outlines some of the great work of the VCSE sector.
