Dear Friend of the Lovelady Ministry,

If 2020 had not already thrown us for a loop, the loops just keep on coming. Most of you are probably aware that 10 years ago a donor purchased the former Carraway property for the Lovelady Center to expand the ministry. After several unsuccessful attempts to change the current zoning, we decided it was best to sell the property.

Four years ago, we received a very generous sales contract on the property which we accepted. However, the buyer ran into delay after delay and the closing moved back farther and farther, until finally the property was set to close prior to the end of this year.

Last week, the buyer came to us and told us that between the city and county funding, our sales price had to be significantly reduced if we wanted to be able to close this year. Though it meant our anticipated funds would be much lower than what we had expected, we realized that we needed to move on it.

We really wish to see the property redeveloped for our city. We realized we no longer needed to carry the burden of Carraway, so we signed the new contract.

Though this took our breath for a moment because we had planned to do so much good, even for other ministries, and though we needed the proceeds to meet so many of our own needs, please know we are still breathing. We had put so much hope in that sale, but we know our only lasting hope is in God. Like many of you, we have faced so many negative things this year. Addiction, depression, and hopelessness doesn’t take a break during a pandemic, and is, in fact, at an all-time high.

With all our loss, we will not lose. But we need you. We are fighting to change the lives of women who struggle - and to break the cycle for their children. We can still make a radical impact on our city. This is a huge task and is only possible with partners like you.

Like most everyone, Lovelady has had to find a “new normal.” As you know, we designate one day every two weeks to bring new clients into our program. The delay is because we must quarantine them for 10 days before they can begin participating in the program with our other existing clients. This Wednesday alone, over 50 women entered our program……. 50 women who did not have hope, have it now. Without your partnership, we could not take in these 50 women, nor could we take care of the 400 women and children we already have.

The upcoming holidays are often a very challenging time for the women and children who are with us, but it is also a time for harvesting and giving thanks. We want to first express our heartfelt thanks for your past generosity of time and finances, and also prayerfully ask that you consider Lovelady in your year-end donations for this year.

It matters not if it is small or large, we need you. This ministry cannot do what we do without the help of people like you. We can do this together. We can, with God’s help through you, change the lives of women and children who so desperately need us. Thank you so much for helping us help others.
