Library Closings & Service Changes

We know that libraries are facing the difficult decision of reverting to curbside-only service or closing entirely. Please let us know if your library has any changes in service by referring to your library's status in SWAN and completing the Status Update & Services Request Form if you need to make changes.

Rest assured that if your library is moving to curbside only service, the system is set to support that now – no immediate changes are required in the system. Please consider attending the Tuesday, November 17th Fireside Chat-- or at least watch the recording of the event.

RAILS requests libraries to complete this Status Survey if you are making changes to your library's service model. This status is a valuable tool to all libraries in the area, particularly those neighboring you.

Attend the 11/17 Fireside Meeting Online

This meeting will focus on the service changes many of you are now moving towards. We will help provide you strategies and outline how SWAN will support libraries as it pertains to notification, fines/fees, holds, and resource sharing/delivery. You can register for the Tuesday, November 17th 11am meeting now which will provide you email reminders about the meeting. Note: the last newsletter misstated the date of this meeting. Plan for Offline Circulation on Sat 12/5 through Sun 12//6

The time line for adding the three new libraries Glenside, Roselle, and Warrenville has a system-wide SWAN offline day for all member libraries. This day will be used to rebuild search indexes within the Symphony ILS. Details on the services impacted will be shared in an upcoming announcement, but libraries should prepare their service desk schedules for Symphony Offline Circulation.
