UPDATE: Crew-1 launch now targeting Sunday, November 15 at 7:27 p.m.

City of Cape Canaveral Community,

Due to the large crowds expected for this Sunday's launch, the City is providing Launch Updates to ensure the community is as informed and prepared for this event as possible. Sunday's launch will likely bring heavy traffic to our area. Residents are advised to consider running errands in advance to avoid launch traffic. See below for launch traffic plans and visitor messaging.

Stay safe!

Crew-1 Launch

UPDATE: Crew-1 launch now targeting Sunday, November 15 at 7:27 p.m.
Mission: Crew-1
Launch Organization: NASA/SpaceX
Rocket: Falcon 9
Payload: Dragon Crew Capsule
Sonic Boom: None

As the Space Coast continues to enjoy an increasingly active launch schedule, the City of Cape Canaveral welcomes the influx of visitors, but acknowledges the limited parking availability within the City. The next SpaceX crewed mission launch is currently scheduled for Sunday, November 15 at 7:27 p.m. and, being a night launch, is likely to attract thousands of space-savvy spectators to the area.

The expected heavy traffic flow in and out of the City will be controlled by the Florida Department of Transportation. Post launch, all Eastbound 528 thru traffic will be not be allowed to u-turn at George King Boulevard and will instead be directed south on SR A1A to 520 West. Traffic lights on SR A1A will be modified to expedite this flow.

  • Visitors should use the traffic app Waze to monitor traffic and be alerted of parking availability. Waze will be continuously updated with county-wide parking availability.
  • Parking availability is limited in our City, and all lots are expected to fill up very early in the day; including City Parks, Brevard County's Cherie Down Park and beach end parking lots.
  • On-street parking (in non-designated spaces) is strictly prohibited throughout the City. Violators are subject to fines.
  • Visitors are encouraged to utilize public transportation to lessen the traffic: 321transit.com
  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in alignment with federal and state guidance to minimize the potential for virus spread: ALL visitors must maintain social distancing and are encouraged to wear masks.
  • Beach visitors must leave the beach clean and take their trash home. Fines will be enforced.
  • Alternatively, launch viewing is available virtually.
