SUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS!

During the General Membership meeting we will have a presentation as well as a brief Q&A period from our guest, Michael Krantz, Chief of Bend Police.

If you have questions you would like Chief Krantz to address in his presentation, please send them to hello@bendscna.org by Monday, Nov 16th

Proposed Bylaw Revisions

During the General Membership meeting members will also be asked to vote on updates to Southern Crossing NA's bylaws.

The Board is recommending approval of the bylaw changes.

The primary updates would allow for electronic meetings, as well as electronic balloting. The other changes are minor in nature and include: making it it easier for Board members and members to add agenda items to Board meetings, and allowing all Board members to make motions in between meetings.

For additional information, please see the bylaws and proposed bylaws:

SCNA & BOARD FAQs

Below are answers to common questions we receive about the SCNA and what it means to be a board member:

Who are members of the SCNA?

Membership in SCNA is granted automatically to any person who lives in (including renters) or owns any real property, or any legal entity that operates a place of business or professional office, a government agency or nonprofit institution within the boundaries set forth in the Bylaws.

Who can be a board member?

Any member who meets the membership requirements above can run for a seat on the board.

How long is the term?

Board members are elected to 2 year terms with approximately half the members up for election each year so that position elections alternate every year. Vice Chair and Secretary elections (up for re-election and election, respectively, this year!) will alternate with the Chair and Treasurer.

What does the board do?

The board is responsible for upholding the purposes of the Neighborhood Association as outlined in the Bylaws:

>> To enhance the livability of the Southern Crossing neighborhood by establishing and maintaining a line of communication and liaison between the neighborhood, the City of Bend and other Neighborhood Associations.

>>To provide an open process by which all members of SCNA may involve themselves in the affairs of the Neighborhood.

>> To perform all acts related to these purposes. To perform only acts that will assist to serve educational, social and charitable purposes.

Currently the board meets every month on the 3rd Thursday from 6-8pm, over Zoom.
