Dear Church,
Have you ever broken a bone? It’s painful and not very fun. I have broken several (both thumbs, wrist, ankle, etc) due to sports injuries.  Each time, a part of the painful process of getting back to normal was rehabilitating the muscles that atrophied due to being immobilized around the bone that was broken. You have probably heard the saying, “If you don’t use it, you lose it.” It was always a shock to me when the cast/plaster was taken off to see my leg or arm all flimsy and flabby where there used to be muscle. (Especially when I was a teen/young adult :) During COVID 19 this year, the ministries of the church have looked very different all being on Zoom versus meeting in person. There are still many ways you can use the gifts and talents God has given you to serve your church family and community. I don’t want you to get flabby spiritual muscles during this time but instead have the body of Christ be built up as it says in Ephesians 4.

Here are a list of opportunities to serve and be blessed right now:
1. Help with a Sunday school lesson especially with video editing for the 4-7’s (talk to Lyn)
2. Help with a Sunday school lesson on Zoom for the 8-10’s (talk to Lyn)
3. Join in with leading worship (talk to Jane Carter or Abena)
4. Help with leading a prayer on a Sunday morning or leading prayer on a Thursday evening at the Well (talk to Justus)
5. Help with the website (talk to Penny)
6. Help with pastoral care (talk to Justus)
7. Give a testimony on a Sunday (talk to Justus)
8. Donate to the Helping Fund (talk to Heather)
9. Organize a Game Night on Zoom for the church (talk to Justus)
10 Invite others to participate on a Sunday morning with us in worship (talk to your neighbor, colleague, classmate, etc.)

Speaking of bones, this Sunday we will continue our series in James with a message about the power of the tongue from James 3:1-12. The old nursery rhyme we learned as a child lies to us when it says, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me.” Be encouraged that God can heal you from whatever harmful words were spoken over you and can use you to bring healing and hope and transformation by the power of your words.

Sincerely,

Pastor Justus
